Current knowledge about Omicron (28–11–2021)

Researchers in South Africa and around the world are conducting studies to better
understand many aspects of Omicron and will continue to share the findings of these
studies as they become available.

It doesn’t ‘stand’ for anything. It is a greek letter. Greek letters are generally used to denote
a sequence in a chain. Like Alpha and Omega, the first in the last, or alpha being first, beta
being second…

The most current common usage is to denote the nth variation of the Unique Corona virus.

So… I am sure this is clear as mud, for the record Omicron is the 15th letter of the greek
alphabet. But if you ever wondered what a beta test was, it is generally the second iteration
of a production product and generally considered for wide spread testing.
