    I would have Bertozzo enter wearing a classic chestnut brown trench coat, which would

    be tied around the waist. This would be keeping with the 1970s setting of the play, and
    therefore would make it easy for an audience to understand the time period the play takes
    place. Under this I would have a plain white shirt with a thin black tie, making him still look
    smart even though he is not dressed in police uniform. He would also wear a pair of smart black
    trousers, and leather shoes. These neutral colours would contrast with the Maniac’s bright,
    colourful costume, showing the differences between the plain, simple-minded police officers
    and the clever Maniac.
