1. Cell Membrane  A structure that serves as a

permeability barrier.

2. Cytoplasm `  A region where chromosomes

(DNA), ribosomes and various
inclusions are found.

3. Nucleus  Site where nucleic acids are

synthesized and therefore, directs
all the activities of the cell.

4. Nucleolus  Structure that is responsible for

ribosome formation.

5. Smooth ER  Plays a role in the manufacture and

metabolism of lipids.

6. Rough ER  Plays a role in the production of
protein, folding, quality control
and dispatch.

7. Ribosomes `  They are the sites where proteins

are produced.

8. Golgi Complex  Responsible for processing,

packaging and sorting of secretory
materials for use within outside the
cell.

9. Mitochondria  It is the powerhouse of the cell.

10. Lysosome  It contains a number of enzymes

for intracellular digestion.

11. Flagellum  It facilitates the movement of
bacteria.

12. Centriole `  Has the central role in cell division

that participates in the formation of
mitotic spindle.

13. Perosixome  breaks down fatty acids to be used

for forming membranes and as fuel
for respiration.

14. Nucleoid  A DNA containing region within

the cytoplasm.

15. Cell Wall  Structure that confers rigidity and

shape to the cell.

chlorophyll which is designed to
absorb sunlight.

protection.
