At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
A. Identify the part of plants and its function.
B. Label the parts of the plants; and
C. Appreciate the importance of plants to our life.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: Parts of the Plant and Its Function

*Roots -Holds the Plant
*Stem-Holds the Leaves
* Leaves-Make the food of the Plants

everyday? Take a bath regularly Ma’am.

envelops are the materials that you need in
making your activity. In each group must
assign their leader. I will only give 5 minutes
to finish your activity. We will check your (Pupils are cooperating.)

E. DISCUSSION
The roots of the plants to the soil.
They absorb and get water and mineral from
the soil.
They store or keep the extra food made by the
plants.
What part of the plant can be seen on the
ground? The Root/s Ma’am.

Why do roots seen below the ground


Because they absorb water with dissolved
minerals from the soil Ma’am.
Do all plants have roots?
Yes Ma’am.

What is the other work of roots?


They hold the plant to the soil.
Very good. Then, the stem holds the leaves,
flowers and fruits of the plants. They give
passageway of water and minerals to up from
the roots to leaves and other parts of the
plants.
What parts of the plants holds the leaves,
flowers, and fruits? The Stem Ma’am.

Do all plants have stem?


Yes Ma’am.
What is the main purpose of the stem?
They bring water and dissolved minerals from
the roots for the leaves Ma’am.

The leaves make the food for the plant.


The leaves are the most important part of the
plants.
Without green Z, a plant cannot make food
for its growth.

What do you call the part of the plants where


it makes its own food? Leaves Ma’am.
What is needed to make for its growth?
Green leaves Ma’am.
The flowers are the most attractive part of
plants.
They have different colors and odors. The
flower helps the plants to have seeds.

What is the part of the plant that makes


the surroundings attractive and beautiful?
Flowers Ma’am.
What is the work of the flowers?
It helps the plants to make seed Ma’am.
Very good!
The fruits hold the seed of the plants. Some
fruits are big while others are small. Fruits
have different shapes too.
They differ in colors and tastes. Some are
sweets while others are sour.

What part of the plants holds the seed?


Fruits Ma’am.
What do you think is the other use of fruits?
For food Ma’am.

F. GENERALIZATION
I have here the magic box, inside are cuts-
outs of different parts of the plants with
question on it.
You are going to pick one. Answer and form
it into a plant.

Based on the activity that you have done,
what did you learned today? We have learned the parts of the plants.

What are the parts of the plants? The roots, stem, leaves, flowers and fruits

So, what is the function of the roots?
It holds the plants from the soil Ma’am.

It’s makes the food for the plants Ma’am.
How about the flowers?
It helps the plants to make seeds Ma’am.
What is the function of the fruits?
It holds the seed of the plants.
For the stem?
It holds the leaves, flowers and the fruits
Ma’am.

G. APPLICATION
I have here a problem. Who wants to read the
problem and answer the problem?

Macmac was in the school garden. He pulled


one plant, remove the roots, leaves and
divided the stems into two parts. Worst of all,
he threw it. Is Macmac love the plants? No Ma’am.

If there are no plants, can we live?


No, because we will die.
What will happened to us if there are no
plants on earth? There will be no food.
There will be no beautiful/surrounding.
There will be no fragrant flowers.
There will be no fresh air to inhale.
Who created all the plants?
God Ma’am.
What should you do with the plants around
us? We should take good care about them.
We should love them.

We should propagate them and conserve


them.
