30 411 Vidas Ferritin: Summary and Explanation Principle
VIDAS®Ferritin (FER)
VIDAS Ferritin is an automated quantitative test for use on the VIDAS family instruments for the determination of human
Ferritin in human serum or plasma (lithium heparin or EDTA) using the ELFA technique (Enzyme Linked Fluorescent
Assay).

Prevalence 5% 45% 45% 151 ng/ml
If concentrations are lower than 20 ng/ml in women and 30 ng/ml in men, tests for martial deficiency should be
performed. If concentrations are greater than 250 ng/ml in women or 350 ng/ml in men, tests should be performed for
inflammatory, infectious, hepatic or tumoral pathologies, or abnormal iron storage (idiopathic or secondary
hemochromatosis). “It is recommended that each laboratory establishes its own reference values from a rigorously
selected population.”

Accuracy
Dilution test
Three samples were diluted in the (R1) diluent and tested singly in 3 series. The ratio of the mean concentration
measured over the expected concentration is expressed as a mean recovery percentage.
