ABSTRACT

Security, it is the state of being free from danger or threat. Security

plays a major role in present society. For everyone and for every
valuable object we look for security. Like wise a door monitoring
system is made which is simple application for security purposes. It
frequently screens the status of the door when it got opened and alerts
with its actions like sounding an alarm sound, communicating via
message.

These actions can be performed by an Arduino connected

to a reed switch which is controlled magnetically. This circuit helps us
in providing information of someone opening the door and alerts us .
With this we can protect our home and even private rooms containing
valuable items. This circuit is simple and easily controllable.

Each module work equal and autonomously by sharing

computational asset. Consequently a minimal expense, open, auto-
configurable, secure and distantly controlled arrangement has been
produced for brilliant home security framework

CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION :

These days we are moving towards brilliant and secure lifestyle

choices. Now a days Home, workplaces, shops, banks need

undeniable level security for wellbeing reason. To give security

this model is introduced.

Safety and security of any living or working spot is maybe the

most fundamental concerns. Todays security frameworks

incorporate CCTV observation which are costly and enormous

number of these systems don't trigger any caution if any one

enters. In this manner a financially clever and fast responsive

security structure is required.

For this reason we have made a prototype of such frameworks

utilizing Arduino uno board and reed switch with magnet .

1
In the event that there is any movement of the door it

distinguishes and produce pulses to be perused by Arduino and

afterward technique is adhered to as per the directions given to

the Arduino UNO. There are numerous creative keen entryway

locks that are designed to bolt and open the framework. Inorder

to expand security we can add reed switch which helps in

noticing the situation with the entryway and a lcd to show

whether the entryway is open or close.

This framework assists the clients with being more ready about

their home security.

1.2 OBJECTIVES :

• The main objective of this project is to provide security

for a room.

• When door of a room will be opened it must give a

message inorder to notify the owner .

The description and specifications of the components

are further continued.

2.2.1 HARDWARE ANALYSIS:

1. ARDUINO UNO:

It is an open-source microcontroller board. It is based on the

Microchip ATmega328P microcontroller which is developed

by Arduino. The Arduino board is equipped with sets of analog

and digital input/output pins that can be interfaced with various

boards and circuits.

Fig 2.2 : Arduino uno

Cost : 500/-

5
The arduino uno board wil be having 14 digital Input/Output

pins (in which 6 are capable of PWM output), and six analog

I/O pins, It is programmable with the Arduino IDE through a

sort of type B USB cable.

2. REED SWITCH WITH MAGNET:

It is an electrical switch which is operated by an applied

magnetic field. There are contacts inside the reed switch. These

contacts inside the switch are normally open, and closes . at the

point when an magnetic field is available, or they might be

ordinarily shut and open when an magnetic field is applied. The

reed switch might be activated by an electromagnetic loop,

making a reed relay, or by bringing a perpetual magnet close to

it.

6
Figure2.3 : Reed Switch Sensor

When the magnetic field is removed from surroundings

of the contacts, they returns to their original position.

Cost : 140/-

3. LCD DISPLAY:

Figure 2.4: Display unit

7
LCD stands for liquid crystal display. It It is basically an

electronic operating device where the values get displayed

using optical theory. It is a flat board show or other

electronically adjusted optical device that uses the light-

changing properties of fluid crystals got together with

polarizers.

Cost : 100/-

4. LED:

Figure 2.5 : LED

8
LED stands for light-emitting diode. It is a semiconductor

light source that communicates light when current travels

through it.Electrons in the semiconductor recombine with

electron holes, delivering energy .

Cost : 10/-

5. BREADBOARD:

It is a circuits base used for prototyping of electronic

components. It is used to place any type of components on it

inorder to make a circuit. The type of components used are

resistors, transitors etc.In breadboard there will be 2 scopes

of arranging components that is either in series or parallel

manner.

9
The first and last two rows are used for series connections and

the middle part is used for parallel connections. It doesn’t

require any soldering and can be reused.

Figure 2.6: BreadBoard

A combination of electronic structures may be prototyped by

using breadboards, from minimal straightforward and

automated circuits to complete central processing units (CPUs).

Cost : 70/-

10
6. RESISTORS:

A resistor is an idle two-terminal electrical portion that

executes electrical opposition as a circuit part. They are used

to limit current and voltage flow. In electronic circuits,

resistors are used to diminish current stream, change signal

levels, to separate voltages, bias dynamic segments, and end

transmission lines, among various jobs.

Fig 2.7: Resistors

Cost : 10/-

11
7. JUMPER WIRES:

It is a mode to allow passage of current from a single place

point to another part of the circuit. As we know that there is
a medium,it will be easy for passing current.Twisting of
wires is one such good method to plot the connection in the
circuit .

Figure 2.8: Jumper Wires

Specifications :

1. Diameter : 0.25mm

2. Aluminium and copper are used

3.Very flexible.

Cost : 50/-

12
2.2.2SOFTWARE TOOL :

ARDUINO :

The tool used for the execution of software part is Arduino.

Arduino basically consists variety of microprocessors and

controllers. In this, the code is written by connecting an USB

cable wire to system. The board consists of input and ouput pins

that can be interfaced with any breadboard and other

circuits. The board consist of some serial communication

interfaces which are used for loading programs. The data pins

D7,D6,D5,and D4 of the 16 x 2 LCD Module are connected to

Digital IO Pins 2,3,4 and 5 of Arduino UNO respectively.

The LCD Control Pins E,RW,RS are connected to Pin 6, GND

and Pin 7 of Arduino respectively. The backlight LED pins

i.e.,pins 15 and 16 are connected to +5V and GND

13
Two codes are written in the Arduino in which one is used to

connect reed switch by which Arduino knows the status of the

door and other code which is used to connect lcd to Arduino for

displaying the status of the door and to glow led .

CHAPTER 3: RESULTS

3.1: Working Module :

Below is the hardware part of the system

Figure 3.1 : Hardware part of the project

14
The sensor used in the system are procured for sesing the status

of the door .According to the status of the door the LCD

displays the message whether the door is open or close.

In Arduino tool, the code is executed using libraries, functions

and loop.Below is the code used for the execution of whole

project

Figure 3.2 : Software code 1

15
Figure 3.3: Software code 2

In the above code, libraries are defined and variables are

declared .One code is used for connecting the reed switch to

Arduino and other code is used to display status of the door.

16
APPLICATIONS:

• As mentioned earlier whenever there is a scope of moving

to long distances like to a trip or going out of town this
circuit helps in monitoring the status of the door.
• Instead of using LED we can also use a buzzer which can
make an alarm sound when door got opened.
• We can also include various components like GSM
module for making a call to register number and burglar
alarm for increasing security for various things.

CHAPTER 4: CONCLUSION

The main objective of the project is to inform the home owner

as soon as the door is opened by sending a Push notification
through the sensors placed on the door. The client will get this
warning independent of whether the telephone is bolted or
opened or regardless of whether some other application is
opened right now..This arrangement can likewise be utilized in
business workplaces .

17
and in confined zones where such a framework will promptly
advise the chairman regarding intruders.

In this manner the extensibility and materialness of such a

framework is restricted simply by the creative mind..
