We have been celebrating University Week on our university campus for many years, but in

recent years, we have done it via an online platform. Many events are already being held online
as a result of the pandemic that the world is currently experiencing. Even if we are unable to
hold a live celebration, anybody can join from the comfort of their own homes. This year's
University Week is the second time it has been held on a social media platform, and as a result
of last year's experiences, everything is much more structured this year.

On Thursday, November 25, the day of the opening of University Week, at 7:30 in the morning,
everyone is invited to participate in the bicycle and float caravans by each of the colleges. From
the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Administration, the College of
Education, and the College of Engineering and Technology. Every college prepared for the
beautification of their own float, and in the end, the College of Engineering and Technology got
the first place. After the caravan, a meeting was also conducted at the university gym. In the
afternoon of the same day, at 1 pm, is when the opening salvo is conducted through Facebook
live. This is where everyone can participate and everyone can connect, even if it is only through
social media. The banner and presentation of the emblems have been conducted, as has the
lighting of the symbolic torch. After that is the declaration of the opening of University Week
2021 by the Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Wilter C. Friales, PhD. 2:30 pm is when the special
events start. Each of the colleges presents their participants for the Mascot Competition, Pep
Talk, Bench Yelling, Showdown, and Virtual Dialogue.

At 8 a.m. on November 26, the second day of UWEEK, creative events such as Canvas
Painting and the CODM championship began. In the afternoon, this is where the socio-cultural
events and the festival of talents are presented live on Facebook. From the Folk dance
competition, Lyrical Hipjop, Marist Tapatan, Vocal Duet, Chorale, and Marist Tanghalan. Each
student cheers on their colleges in the comment section of the Facebook Live, and everyone is
enjoying the performance of each of the participants from different colleges. Every student from
the different colleges even makes their own composed cheer in the comment section to support
their representative, even though it is only in a virtual way. On the last day of the UWEEK, at 8
a.m., the presentation of outputs from creative events is conducted, and after that, there is also
the presentation of the battle of bands, where each college composes their own original song.
Then comes the presentation of the short film, where each college creates a different story that
follows the theme of horror-comedy. Every student performs their best, and we can also see
who is a good actor and actress. After that is the Mobile Legends Championship, where the fight
is broadcast live via Facebook, where every fan of the online game is rooting for the
participants, they are supporting.

Mr. and Ms. NDMU In one of the most awaited events of the UWEEK, the comment section of
the Facebook live contains the name of the representative they are rooting for to win. At the end
of the pageant, the two winners who got the crown as Mr. and Mrs. NDMU 2021 were Kurt
Aroso from the College of Education and Princess Shianne Andres from the College of
Business Administration. After the pageant is the declaration of winners for the past events and
the awarding of certificates. Following the pageant, the winners of previous events are
announced and certificates are presented. Finally, the most eagerly anticipated news of
UWEEK 2021: which of the five institutions will be named University Week champion this year.
The College of Engineering and Technology took home the championship trophy at the end of
University Week 2021, reclaiming the title after a 14-year of not being able to be champion.

University Week 2021 came to a good conclusion. Despite the pandemic, which forced classes
to be held remotely, the annual University Week celebrations went on without a hitch. Each
officer from the Supreme Student Government, professors, and officers from the various
colleges give their all for all of the NDMU students, teachers, and faculty to enjoy and celebrate
University Week 2021. Overall, despite the challenges of the pandemic, it was a joyous and
happy opportunity for everyone to come together for the University Week.
