Solar Power Plant

Solar Power Plant is a power plant that utilizes energy from sunlight to produce
electrical energy. The main component of a solar power plant is photovoltaic solar panels
which can convert solar energy into electrical energy so that it can be used for daily
electricity needs. The electric current produced by photovoltaic solar panels is direct electric
current (DC) so that other components such as inverters are needed to convert this direct
current (DC) into alternating electric current (AC).
Broadly speaking, there are two ways in which a Solar Power Plant works, namely
the photovoltaic effect or direct operation, and through the concentration of solar energy or
indirectly. Photovoltaic is a cell that converts light energy into electricity which was first
discovered by Charless Fritts in 1880. The performance of this cell uses the photoelectric
effect to produce an electric current. The way this system works is very simple, namely using
the voltage difference generated from the photoelectric effect to produce electricity. This
energy concentration system uses mirrors or lenses as well as a tracking system so that solar
energy received on a certain surface area will be focused on a single point. Furthermore, the
concentrated heat is used as a heat source for power generation to drive a generator or
other heat storage medium.
Technologies that are widely used in society are parabolic mirrors, Fresnel reflector
lenses, and solar towers. The largest solar power plant using this system is the Ivapah Solar
Plant located in the Mojave Desert. Power plants with this work system can produce 377
Mega Watts of power. With such a complex way of working, it can be explained that a Solar
Power Plant also consists of several main equipment and components, including :
1. Solar panels
2. Controller regulator
3. Battery / Accu
4. Inverter AC
