Summary of the trailer:

Debbie Ocean, a con artist has just spent the last five years in prison, and rather than

reforming, she’s been planning. Immediately after getting out of the prison, she’s up to

her old tricks and enlisting her old friend, Lou to put together a heist to steal the

Toussaint, a diamond worth $150 million. They plan to put the diamond on the neck of a

movie star (Daphne Kluger) hence employing a team of specialists, including a hacker

(Nine Ball), jewelry maker (Amita), fashion designer (Rose Weil), a pickpocket

(Constance) and an old partner-in-crime, Tammy to pull of the elaborate heist during the

Met Gala.
  Vision :

1. To acquire a big sum of money in an easy and fast way by stealing.

2. To get revenge against Debbie's ex-boyfriend.

 Mission :

1. Searching for a group of talented people to achieve mission and stealing the

Toussaint necklace from the museum.

2. Framing Debbie's ex-boyfriend.

Planning Theory Relation with the movie :

 Strategic Planning :

1. Collecting information: Nine Ball is a hacker in charge of collecting information

by infiltrating the CCTV at the Met Museum of Art where the heist is supposed to

take place.

2. Setting goals: Debbie Ocean spent 5 years setting her goals on what she’d do

after being released which was to rob the Toussaint necklace and replace it with

a fake imitation and also to get revenge on her ex boyfriend who had framed her

earlier causing her incarceration.

3. Allocating resources and implement: Lou, Debbie’s close friend took the role of

finding talented people from all kinds of backgrounds such as a street pickpocket,
 jewelry maker and fashion designer to work hand in hand as resources to

implement the plan that had been made.

4. Measuring progress: Debbie as the leader of the organization monitor the

progress of the plan closely and measured it to her standard of success. Each

plan was monitored and planned well to avoid any of the group members getting

caught by the police.

 Tactical Planning :

1. Debbie Ocean and her group met up to plan the heist by building the exact

Replica of the Met museum to ensure they have maximum control over every

aspect of the heist.

2. The group planned to create a blind spot within the museum’s CCTV camera

to ease the process of their heist. Therefore, Nine Ball hacked into the museum’s

security system to slowly yet progressively move the angles of the security

cameras every day to ensure their hacking goes unnoticed by the museum’s

security force.

 Operational Planning :
 - Single-use Plan :

The plan to steal the diamond necklace are an example of single use plan. They all

planned the heist thoroughly according to the project to achieve one specific goal that is:

to steal various diamond jewelries in the museum together with the Toussaint.

- Standing Plan :

The scene at the museum during the Met Gala where the Toussaint has been noticed to

be missing from Daphne Kluger’s neck shows perfect example on how the organization

deal with the issue according to policies, procedures and rules. All the guards have been

asked to search the place thoroughly and the guests also are forced to vacate the main

hall to ensure they do not get in the way during the investigation.

Conclusion :

Planning is the crucial part on making Debbie's goal achievable, she had spent 5 long

years planning the perfect plan and her time was not spent in vain. She succeed on

achieving her mission and vision through a thorough plan with every steps on how to

overcome every obstacles that she had predicted. Thus, this movie perfectly depicts the

importance of planning and how crucial it is.

We recommend this movie to everyone who is interested to learn more about planning

as it has many scenes that involves the characters in the movie meticulously planning

the heist. This movie is strongly recommended to those who wish to learn and acquire

knowledge on planning in a leisure and fun way.
