In your own observation, how far have the Philippines gone toward

achieving the goals of the national EST strategy?

Ans.

In my own observation, The Philippines today is in outdated towards

achieving the goals of the national EST strategy. Why? It is because some of us
still ride on jeepneys, buses, public utility vehicle (PUV) or tricycle. And we all
know that they produce greenhouse gases, are ineffective, and are unsafe. Because
the Philippine public transportation market is currently characterized by a large
number of on-street competing operators for jeepneys, buses, PUVs, and tricycles.
This might lead in an inefficient supply of low-quality public transportation, as
well as dangerous and congested traffic. It's due to a lack of effective institutions
and planning procedures, as well as a lack of enforcement and financial incentives
for operators. It could result in.

• A bus market that is underdeveloped, consisting of old, used coach buses

that do not meet demand, particularly for metropolitan mass-transit
demands.
• Negative externalities: high CO2 emissions, severe air pollution, road safety
concerns, lost time, and so on.
