How to make a LIT-file

Make a copy of your day-texture and name it texture_LIT.

Open this file in a paintingprogram ( wich can handle layers , so, NOT PAINT)
Make a black layer over it and set its opacity to 50%
Cut out the region you want to be enlighted at night, using a selection tool with fading-effect.
(feathering)
Increase the opacity of the black layer to 100%
Now you have a LIT file, just based on the cut-out.
This gives very much light on the enlighted spot.

Better is adding a second black layer and set its opacity at approx 60 to 90% for a more realistic effect .

Save the file as PNG ( or DDS) and save the layerfile TOO*

• Try and see, adjust this opacity to your personal taste.
