2. Description
A. Single Seat Model 3043
(1) The seat’s base is mounted to standard aircraft floor tracks. The seat may be
moved forward, aft, laterally, and rotate on its base. The seat is available with
manual position controls, a headrest, and arm type options.
(2) Seat cushions are installed with Velcro and can be removed to provide access
to the seat frame assembly.
(3) Dimensions are given for a standard seat configuration with back in upright
position, headrest extended, and seat cushions removed.
(4) The seat can be reclined by pressing the recline button on the inside of the arm.
(5) A life vest stowage compartment is mounted in the front shroud.
(6) A brake disk secures the seat’s position on its base. When the position control
lever is pulled, the brake disk is released, and the seat is free to swivel and
move forward, aft, and laterally.
NOTE: Rotation and Travel may be limited with optional swivel and travel limiters installed.

B. Operation
(1) Mechanical Seat Back Recline:
(a) To recline the seat back, press and hold the recline control located on
the inside of the arm assembly while applying pressure to the seat
back. Release the recline control when the desired recline position is
achieved. To return the seat back to its upright position, press and hold
the recline control without applying pressure to the seat back.
NOTE: See seat installation manual for restrictions on seat
installations. All placard instructions must be strictly followed.
(2) Seat Position Control:
(a) To move the seat position on the seat base, lift the control lever located
on the left or right arm. Raising the lever releases the brake
mechanism, allowing the seat to slide forward, aft, left, and right a few
inches. When the control lever is released, the brake disk re-engages
and holds the seat in its current position. If further forward or aft
adjustment is necessary, the seat must be moved in the seat track.
(b) To rotate the seat, lift the control lever located on the left or right arm.
Raising the lever releases the brake mechanism, allowing the seat to
rotate 180°. When the control lever is released, the brake mechanism
re-engages and holds the seat in its current position.
(3) Seat Position in Floor Track:
(a) With the studs in the floor tracks, slide the studs forward or aft in the
tracks until aligned with the holes in the floor track. Position the seat
pedestal on the studs and secure with washers and nuts.
(b) Floor Tracking: Raise floor tracking handle to release bolt from floor
track. Slide seat forward or aft and release handle at desired position.
The floor track bolt must be securely locked into the floor track.
(4) Headrest Adjustment:
(a) To raise the headrest, grasp the headrest and pull upward. The back
assembly has a mechanism that holds the headrest in it’s deployed
position at one-inch intervals. To lower the headrest, press it downward.
1. General
The following procedure gives instructions for testing operation of the seat assembly
components. No special equipment or facilities are required. The final completely assembled
seat weight including upholstery and restraints must be less than 75 pounds (34.62 kg) to
retain airworthiness certification.
A. Examination
Prior to performing any testing, confirm that the seat assembly is in good mechanical
condition. Refer to Inspection/Check. Perform testing and fault isolation only after
thoroughly examining the seat assembly for mechanical defects. Testing and fault
isolation is performed to determine functional operation.
Refer to Table 101 for a list of test equipment. Equivalent substitutes may be used.
(b) Attach a flat disk accessory to digital force gage, press peak button on
the force gage, and zero if necessary.
(c) Place the digital force gage against the center of the leading edge of the
seat (Figure 101).
(d) Slowly push the seat keeping the force gage face flat and perpendicular
to the leading edge.
(e) Verify that the seat moves longitudinally with a maximum force of 16.5
lbf (7.48 kgf).
(f) Place the digital force gage against the center of the trailing edge of the
seat.
(g) Slowly push the seat keeping the force gage face flat against the trailing
edge and the force gage perpendicular.
(h) Verify that the seat moves longitudinally with a maximum force of 16.5
lbf (7.48 kgf).

REPAIR-04
1. General
A. Dual Lock consists of two separate stemmed fastener pieces, each having a different
density of stems. The piece with the lesser density of stems is always applied to the
main structure, conversely, the piece with the higher density of stems is always applied
to the removable component.
B. Prior to installing Dual Lock or Hook and Loop, the surfaces to be bonded must be
prepared as detailed below.
NOTE: Part surfaces waiting for priming or adhesive application shall be handled in
such a manner that no contamination occurs on the surface to be primed or
bonded.
2. Bonding to Aluminum
WARNING: USE MEK ONLY IN A CORRECTLY VENTILATED AREA, WEAR SPLASH
GOGGLES, SOLVENT-RESISTANT GLOVES, AND OTHER SAFETY GEAR.
DO NOT BREATHE VAPORS. IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT, FLUSH WITH
WATER FOR 15 MINUTES AND GET MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN CASE OF
SKIN CONTACT, WASH WITH SOAP AND WATER. MEK IS TOXIC AND
FLAMMABLE.
A. Degrease the area to be bonded using MEK, or other appropriate solvents.
B. In lukewarm water, wash and scrub the area to be bonded with a non-chlorinated
industrial cleaner (Ajax or equivalent) and Scotch Brite pad.
C. Rinse the area with cold water (75°F (24°C) max. temperature) for 3 minutes while
wiping the area with a clean Scotch Brite pad. Inspect for water break: the metal is
clean when the water forms smooth unbroken sheets across the surface. If the water
beads or forms channels, repeat step B.
WARNING: IF YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR TO DRY PARTS, MAKE SURE THE AIR
PRESSURE IS NOT MORE THAN 29 POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH (200
KILOPASCALS). WEAR GOGGLES OR A FACE SHIELD TO PROTECT
YOUR EYES.
D. Force air dry or dry in vented oven at a temperature less than 160°F (49.0°C).
E. Unless a part is printed or bonded immediately, it must be wrapped in clean Kraft
paper.
NOTE: Part surfaces waiting for priming or adhesive application shall be handled in
such a manner that no contamination occurs on the surface to be primed or
bonded.
F. A cleaned part must be primed or bonded within 8 hours of cleaning; otherwise, repeat
the process from step C.
3. Bonding to Composite/ABS
A. Scuff ABS or composite with 3M Scotch Brite 07477 and wipe clean with a lint free
cloth prior to applying a bonding agent.

1. Installation of Inserts
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE SOLVENTS. THEY ARE DANGEROUS TO
HEALTH AND CAN CAUSE FIRE. YOU MUST USE SAFETY GOGGLES
AND PROTECTION CLOTHES TO HANDLE THEM. DO NOT BREATHE
THEIR GASES AND DO THE WORK IN AN AREA WITH A GOOD
AIRFLOW. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURY TO
PERSONNEL CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT USE SOLVENTS OTHER THAN THOSE
SPECIFIED. THEY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FINISH.
CAUTION: DECORATIVE SURFACES ARE EASILY DAMAGED. COVER THE
SURFACES AND HANDLE THE UNIT WITH CARE TO PREVENT DAMAGE.
A. For potted inserts, do the steps that follow:
(1) Drill the insert installation holes in the panel using a hole-drilling template or by
measuring per engineering drawing. Observe specified tolerances.
(2) Remove paper backing from the insert positioning tab(s), adhere the insert(s)
to the adhesive side of the tab aligning vent holes of the insert and tab.
NOTE: If the sandwich panel is over 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) thick, partially pre-pot hole
prior to installing the insert.
(3) Use the proper tool or tooling for installing and positioning the insert. Place the
insert into the installation hole and apply adequate pressure to adhere the tab
to the face of the panel.
(4) Using a dispensing gun or syringe, inject the potting compound into one of the
insert vent holes. Ensure all air is vented and the hole is completely filled.
(5) Wipe any excess potting compound from the panel and insert assembly.
(6) Allow the adhesive to cure in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Remove and discard the tab.
B. For bonded inserts, do the steps that follow:
(1) Drill the insert installation holes in the panel using a hole drilling template or by
measuring per engineering drawing. Observe specified tolerances.
(2) Apply adhesive to the bonding surface of the insert or the bonding surface of
the panel and position the insert in the panel.
(3) Position the anvil on the insert and panel. Ensure that the insert fits into the
recessed area of the anvil.
(4) Position the setting tool so that the centerline of the tool is aligned with the
centerline of the insert.
(5) Apply pressure on the setting tool. The tool will roll the insert lip over. Continue
applying pressure until the tool face is flush with the panel skin.
(6) Check the rolled lip to ensure that there are no cracks in the insert. If any visible
cracks are present contact Material and Process Engineering for further
instructions.
(7) Wipe excess adhesive from the insert, panel, and anvil. Do not remove the
adhesive that is immediately adjacent to the edge of the insert.
WARNING: USE MEK ONLY IN A CORRECTLY VENTILATED AREA,
WEAR SPLASH GOGGLES, SOLVENT-RESISTANT
GLOVES, AND OTHER SAFETY GEAR. DO NOT BREATHE
VAPORS. IN CASE OF EYE CONTACT, FLUSH WITH WATER
FOR 15 MINUTES AND GET MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN
CASE OF SKIN CONTACT, WASH WITH SOAP AND WATER.
MEK IS TOXIC AND FLAMMABLE
(8) Remove the tape and lightly sand the repair area if needed. Clean the area with
cloth dampened with acetone or MEK.
