Forecast work hours


o Crew supervisor forecasts the crew’s available hours
as the first step in the advance scheduling process
o This happens at the beginning of the last shift for the
period already in progress
o Near the end of the work week, the scheduler takes
a Crew Work Hours Availability Forecast Worksheet
to the crew supervisor
o The Crew Work Hours Availability Forecast Worksheet
involves the crew supervisor in deciding how much
work his crew should be able to accomplish during
the next week

Allocating Work Orders
o Allocate task to the workforce in the predetermined
order
o If there are not sufficient work orders left:
o Work persons down – let a higher qualified person do lower
level work
o Schedule only part of the job (rest runs over to next week)
o Do not schedule at all due to insufficient resources

o Stop when
o No backlog left to be scheduled
o Not enough work hours available
o The right level of work hours not available
