sport event involving participants from the current 11 countries of Southeast Asia, it will be used for the torch lighting
ceremony of the 30th Southeast Asian Games this 2019.
What is it for?
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games cauldron is a structure at the New Clark City Athletic Stadium in Capas, Tarlac,
Philippines and was made for the 30th Southeast Asian Games
The cauldron is a monument. It’s a symbol. It’s a work of art. It’s a requirement for all who host the games because it
symbolizes the games’ competition. They're a piece of art. Although it is seen as a cauldron by some people, we see a
memorial. We see the competitors, we see the blazing flames reflecting hope and the spirit of war.
"The cauldron is not one of the symbols — it's the symbol of the games, whether it's Olympic games or SEA Games. It's a
work of art. While some people see it as a cauldron, we see a monument. We see the athletes, we see the burning
flames that represent hope and the fighting spirit.
"Ang cauldron ay isang monumento. Isa itong simbolo. Isa itong work of art. Ito ay isang requirement sa lahat ng
games because it symbolizes the games’ competition, spirit," Cayetano earlier said.
Metal ladders were attached to one side of the vertical structure. Its metal bolts and bearings still exposed to anyone
who would enter the "symbolic" chamber.
Apart from the cauldron itself, he adds, the firm also designed the entire site, the podium on which the
cauldron rests, and the backdrop which conceals the stadium’s utilities building from the view corridor.

Before, art enters to a contract with an artist that specified how much he would be paid, what kinds of materials would
be used, how long it would take to complete, and what the subject of the work would be.
Not what we would consider artistic freedom
The artist was seen as someone who worked with his hands—they were considered skilled laborers, craftsmen, or
artisans.
Today the value of a painting is often the result of something entirely different, to be considered as thinkers and
innovators. art is now an expression of the artist and materials often have little to do with the worth of the art.
Picasso could have painted on a napkin and it would have been incredibly valuable just because it was by Picasso—
Before, an artist signed a contract stating how much he would be paid, what materials he would use, how long it would
take to finish, and what the topic of the piece would be.
Not exactly what we'd call artistic freedom.
Artists were thought to be accomplished workers, craftsmen, or artisans since they worked with their hands.

innovators. art is now an expression of the artist and materials often have little to do with the worth of the art.
It emphasizes on changing times and perceptions, experimentation, new views, and innovative ideas about the world
and the role of art. Furthermore, modern art is more expressive.
Modern art is more expressive and less formal than ancient art. It questions or rejects the traditional
means, treatment, or mindset of creating art. Modern art reflects artists’ expressions and
perspectives. On the other hand, ancient art was impersonal and conformed to a certain society or
society as a whole.
Modern art includes Cubism, surrealism, Dadaism, impressionism, expressionism, art nouveau, art
deco, surrealism, cubism, pop art, and many other art movements. In contrast, ancient art does not
have art movements.
Before, the art was mostly focused on a set of skills but through the times
the focus shifted from artistic skills to the meaning of the work produced.
