3.6 Communication times

The communication times depend on:
• the data transfer time
• the processing time in the controller

3.6.1 Data-transfer time

The data-transfer time depends on:
• the baud rate
• the user-data length
You will find more information about the data-transfer time in the documentation for your host
system.

3.6.2 Processing time in the controller

Processing time 820X

For the 820X series several processing steps are required. They are processed cyclically.
A processing cycle consists of:
• Writing of control word or setpoint, if the value has changed
• Alternating reading of status word and actual value
• Processing of parameter access if there is a service
If the time tolerances caused by the cyclic reading of the status word/actual value are too large, the
alternating reading of the status word and the actual value can be suppressed. This is controlled by
the bit 15 (PE inhibit) of the DRIVECOM control word:
• PE inhibit = 0:
Status and actual value update active
• PE inhibit = 1:
Status and actual value update not active
A suppression of the processing of parameter access is not necessary, since this is controlled by
the user.

Note:
A change of the setpoint signal results in writing the control word.

Processing time 821X / 8200 vector / 822X

The parameter data and process data are independent of each other.
• Parameter data: 30 ms + 20 ms tolerance
• Process data: approx. 3 ms + 2 ms tolerance

Processing time 93XX

The parameter data and process data are independent of each other.
• Parameter data: approx. 30 ms + 20 ms tolerance (typical)
– The processing time can be longer for some codes (see the 9300 Manual).
• Process data: approx. 3 ms + 2 ms tolerance

3.6.3 Number of participants

• Standard: 31 particpants (including host system)
• With repeaters: 125 participants (including host systems)
Line and tree topologies can be built up by means of repeaters. The maximum total expansion of
the bus system depends on:
• the baud rate used
• the number of repeaters
More detailed information can be obtained from the documentation for the control system.

Installation

4.2 Mechanical installation

• If a keypad is attached to the front of the controller, remove it.
• Plug the 2133 fieldbus module in the corresponding interface of the controller and fasten it
with the fixing screw ( (› 4-2) , Fig. 4-2, pos. 7).

4.3 Electrical installation

4.3.1 Voltage supply

If required, supply the 2133 fieldbus module via the plug-in contacts +/- ( (› 4-2) , Fig. 4-2, pos. 6)
with a separate voltage supply 24 V DC Ö10 % .
The 821X, 822x and 93XX series should always be operated without a separate supply voltage.
The controllers 820X (8201¡8204) and 8200 vector always require a separate voltage supply!
Use a separate supply unit for the external voltage supply of the 2133 fieldbus module with 24 V.
Use separate supply units for longer distances between the control cabinets.
The following chapter describes how to connect the 2133 fieldbus module to the bus system, see
chapter 4.3.2.

4.3.2 Wiring to a host

Warning!
An additional potential isolation must be installed if
1. a 820X or 821X controller is connected to the host and
2. a safe electrical isolation (double basic insulation) to VDE 0160 is required.
• For this, use, e.g. an interface module for the host with an additional electrical isolation (see
the corresponding manufacturer information).

The connection of the bus system PROFIBUS-DP is shown in the survey drawing. The required
accessories (e.g. connection cables) are listed in chapter 8.2.

5.1 Configure the host for the communication with the fieldbus
module
For communication with the fieldbus module PROFIBUS-DP 2133 the host needs to be configured
first.

5.1.1 Master settings

For planning of the PROFIBUS-DP, the master requires the controller description data
(LENZ2133.GSD) available on the attached floppy.
Copy LENZ2133.GSD to the directory reserved for this purpose in your planning software (e. g. with
COM PROFIBUS it is the directory ”GSD”).
File name Meaning
LENZ2133.GSD Master data file to DIN 19245 T3

5.1.1.1 User data length determination

The PROFIBUS-DP user data length is determined during the initialization phase. Up to 12 process
data words can be configured. Optionally, the parameter channel can be activated. If the parameter
channel is active, it assigns 4 words of the input and output process data.
• PIW: Process-input word (process data from the controller to the master)
• POW: Process-output word (process data from the master to the controller)
The user data lengths for process input data and process output data are the same.
They are selected by means of identification bytes available in the planning software for the PROFIBU
DP system.

5.4 Addressing of bus participants (station address)

For addressing a controller, every participant (2.x) must have its own station address in the
PROFIBUS-DP network.

2133PFB002

For the example described above, the stations 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 must get different addresses.
Valid address range: 3 ... 126 (126 = default setting).
With the 2133 PROFIBUS-DP the user can select how to set the station address. The options are:

• front DIP switch

• keypad or PC via code L-C0009
• class 2 master

Tip!
The station address changed during operation is not accepted before
• the controller is switched off and on again (with internal supply).
• the fieldbus module is supplied externally
1. the controller and the external supply are switched off and
2. on again.

5.4.1 Address settings with the DIP switch (front)

The address is calculated (decimal number) by putting the switch positions of S1 ... S7 (’0’ = OFF and
’1’ = ON) in the equation:

Adressedec
S1 ô 2 0 S 2 ô 2 1 S3 ô 2 2 S4 ô 2 3 S5 ô 2 4 S6 ô 2 5 S7 ô 2 6

The equation gives also results on the valency of a switch (front labelling). The sum of valencies
results in the station address to be set:
Switch S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7
Valency 1 2 4 8 16 32 64

Example 1:
Switch S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7
Switch position 1 1 1 0 0 0 0
Address (= 7) 1 2 4 0 0 0 0

Example 2:
Switch S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S6
Switch position 1 0 0 1 1 0 0
Address (= 25) 1 0 0 8 16 0 0

Tip!
• The station address and the baud rate, which are set through the DIP switch, will only be
active after mains reconnection.
• The switch S8 implements the functionality of the (LENZE) fieldbus module 2131
PROFIBUS-DP (see chapter 1.1). Set S8=ON for this application only.

5.4.2 Address settings through keypad or PC via code L-C0009

• Settable address range limited: 3 ¡ 99.
Addresses are set via code L-C0009 (see Code Table for the controller).
In this case, the DIP switches S1 - S7 must be set to OFF (= default setting):
S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 The station address (L-C0009) is taken from the basic unit.

Code L-C0009 is not active if one or several DIP switches have been set to ON before restarting the
controller. This station address setting would be taken over.
The following table shows the assignment of the addresses:
PROFIBUS-DP station address Mapping to code L-C0009 LECOM controller address
1-2 No (master addresses)
3-99 Yes (3-99)
100-125 Yes (C0009=2)
126 ( Lenze setting ) Yes ( C0009=1 )

5-6 BA2133EN
Show/Hide Bookmarks

Commissioning

5.4.3 Address settings through the class 2 master

– With this method only one PROFIBUS-DP participant must be connected. This can be
achieved by a special switch-on sequence.
Master settings (only class 2) influence the settings under code L-C0009.

Tip!
A station address set through the DIP switch has priority over the other two settable station
addresses (software setting). In this case, the code L-C0009 is deactivated.

5.5 Enable drive via PROFIBUS-DP

82XX / 1. For drive control via PROFIBUS-DP, change the setting of the Lenze parameter operating mode (L-C0001) from 0 to 3 (see chapter 6.3.1). This
8200 vector change can be carried out using the keypad or the PROFIBUS-DP.
Examples for PROFIBUS-DP Write (L-C0001= 3)

 ›
– Index = 5FFEhex
(results from 5FFFhex (L-C0001)hex; see Lenze codes Addressing, see chapter 6.2.1, chapter 6.2.2, 6-3, 6-7 )
– Subindex: 0
– Value: 30000dec (results from 3x104; see chapter 6.2.1, chapter 6.2.2)
2. Terminal 28 (ctrl. enable) is always active and must be set to HIGH level during PROFIBUS-DP operation (see the Operating Instructions for the
controller).
– Otherwise, the controller cannot be enabled by the PROFIBUS-DP (DRIVECOM unit status ”OPERATION ENABLED”).
– With 821X, 8200 vector and 822X, the function QSP (quick stop) is always active. If QSP is assigned to an input terminal (default setting: not
assigned), this terminal must be at HIGH level during PROFIBUS-DP operation (see the corresponding Operating Instructions).
The controller now accepts control and parameter-setting data from the PROFIBUS-DP.
93XX 1. For drive control via PROFIBUS-DP set the Lenze parameter Signal Configuration (L-C0005) to a value xxx3. This change can be carried out
using the 9371BB keypad or PROFIBUS-DP. For the first commissioning, select the signal configuration 1013.
Examples for PROFIBUS-DP Write (L-C0005= 1013)

 ›
– Index = 5FFAhex
(results from 5FFFhex (L-C0005)hex; see chapter 6.2.1, chapter 6.2.2, 6-3, 6-7 )
– Subindex: 0
– Value: 10 130 000dec (results from 1013x104)
2. Set the parameter L-C0142 to 0
3. Terminal 28 (ctrl. enable) is always active and must be set to HIGH level during PROFIBUS-DP operation (see the Operating Instructions for the
controller). Otherwise, the controller cannot be enabled by the PROFIBUS-DP (DRIVECOM unit status ”OPERATION ENABLED”).
– With the signal configuration L-C0005= 1013, the function QSP (quick stop) and the CW/CCW changeover are assigned to the digital input

5.5.1 Protection against unintended restart

Tip!
After a fault (e.g. short-term mains failure) the restart of the drive is not always wanted and - in some
cases - even not allowed.
• The drive can be inhibited by setting L-C0142 = 0 if
– the corresponding controller sets a fault status “Message“ and
– the fault is active for more than 0.5 s.
Parameter function:
• L-C0142 = 0
– Controller remains inhibited (even if the fault is no longer active and
– The drive restarts after a LOW-HIGH transition at one of the inputs for “Controller inhibit“
(CHIN, e. g. at terminal X5/28)
• L-C0142 = 1
– Uncontrolled restart of the drive possible.

and the controller (continuous
exchange of current input and output
data).

Tab. 6-1 Division of parameter data and process data into different communication channels

Note (only valid for L-C0001 = 3):

The parameter data channel provides the possibility to access process data (acyclically) (e.g.
L-C0046, “Display of speed setpoint”). This is necessary for the control with field bus modules that
use protocols where the process data is not defined (e.g. LECOM-A/B).
It is not needed when using the fieldbus module 2133, which communicates with the PROFIBUS-DP
protocol. Here, the process data changed via the parameter data channel are overwritten every time
the program runs.

6.2.1 DRIVECOM parameter data channel

Access to Lenze parameters
Lenze codes • Addressing of Lenze codes via an offset:
– PROFIBUS-DP-Index = 24575 - LENZE_CODENR
– PROFIBUS-DP-Indexhex = 5FFFhex - LENZE_CODENRhex
• Example for L-C0001 (Operating mode):
– PROFIBUS-DP-Index = 24574 (= 24575 - 1)
– PROFIBUS-DP-Indexhex = 5FFEhex (= 5FFFhex - 1hex)
Lenze parameters • Multiply the required parameter value by 10000 to get integer values (Lenze parameters mainly in fixed comma
format, data type integer32 with 4 decimal digits).
• Example: L-C0039 (JOG) = 150.4 Hz:
– 150.4 x 10000 = 1504000dec (0016F300hex)

6.3 Process data channel

6.3.1 Operating mode

The operating mode determines which source (terminal, keypad, PROFIBUS-DP) is to be used to
write the frequency setpoint and the control word.

82XX / 8200 vector controllers

The operating mode for these controllers is determined under code L-C0001 (5FFEhex).
L-C0001 Read and write parameter Parameter C0046 Process data
0 yes no no
1 yes yes no
2 yes no no
3 yes no yes

Note!
• Independently of the selected operating mode L-C0001, the controller can be inhibited via the
PROFIBUS-DP under code L-C0040 (parameter data channel).
• Please note that the operating mode L-C0001 is available in all parameter sets. It should be
set identically.

93XX controllers
The93XX controller does not provide an operating mode which can be changed by only one code.

By means of the control codes it is possible to select the signal source valid for an input. The signal
source can be a terminal, an internal signal or a signal of a bus system.
If the controller 93XX had only one settable code L-C0001 (like the controllers 82XX and 8200 vector
- see above), the setting would always be L-C0001 = 3 !

For further information refer to the 93XX Manual.

The actual frequency value is provided as signed normalization á24000 = á480 Hz.

Special features
• A TRIP must only be reset through PROFIBUS-DP:
If the controller is set to the status TRIP while being operated with PROFIBUS control (L-C0001 = 3) and if the TRIP is reset through terminal
28, the drive might start for a short time. When resetting a fault via PROFIBUS-DP, this does not occur.
• After the command “TRIP reset“ the 820X controller is basically initialized. During this time the controller does not accept any services.
• When the direction of rotation is changed, the selected direction must be send with a low setpoint before the new setpoint:
If the setpoint and the direction of rotation are changed at the same time via the DRIVECOM speed setpoint, the speed can change to the
wrong direction or rotation for a short time. This is because the setpoint is sent to the controller as unipolar value before and the information
about the direction of rotation is sent.

6.3.3 DRIVECOM control

6.3.3.1 Provide DRIVECOM compatibility

The DRIVECOM profile 21 is a specification of important parameters and unit performance of several manufacturers. The DRIVECOM profile 21 mainly describes the
unit control and a speed operating mode. In addition to the DRIVECOM specifications there are further Lenze-specific functions, e.g. digital-frequency coupling or DC
injection-brake. These manufacturer-specific specifications require slight setting changes to comply with the desired DRIVECOM compatibility. In the following, you
will find the changes required for the Lenze controllers.
820X With 820X controllers, parameters can only be set when the controller is inhibited.
The controller is inhibited in DRIVECOM status.
• ”SWITCH-ON INHIBIT”
• ”READY FOR SWITCH ON”
• ”SWITCHED ON”
• ”TRIP”
821X, The automatic DC-injection brake must be deactivated in all parameter sets, i. e.
8200 vector • L-C0106= 0
and 822X • L-C2106= 0
• L-C4106= 0 (only 8200 vector)
• L-C6106= 0 (only 8200 vector)
If the automatic DC-injection brake is not deactivated (holding time of the DC-injection brake L-C0106 not 0), the controller automatically switches
from the status ”OPERATION ENABLED” to the status ”SWITCHED ON” when the speed is 0 and the holding time of the DC-injection brake is
elapsed. If the setpoint is higher than 0, the controller is automatically reset to the status ”OPERATION ENABLED”.
93XX Set a DRIVECOM speed signal configuratin under code L-C0005, e. g.:
• L-C0005= 1013
This configuration corresponds to the signal configuration 1000 with the following changes:
• Setpoint selection via PROFIBUS-DP
• Unit control via PROFIBUS-DP
• Output X5.A1 is selected as voltage output for the internal supply of the digital inputs.
• Actual values and status signals for PROFIBUS-DP
For a detailed description of the signal configuration, see 93XX Manual.

With PROFIBUS-DP control (82XX: Lenze parameter L-C0001 = 3; 93XX: always) and when using the
2133 fieldbus module, the Lenze controller status is normalized according to the DRIVECOM-Profil
20.
Information about the momentary controller status (Fig. 6-4 see below, see rectangles) are included
in the DRIVECOM parameter “Status word“. Commands in the DRIVECOM parameter control word
can change the controller status. These commands are marked by arrows in the following diagram.

8.1 Consistent parameter data

With the communication system PROFIBUS-DP the data is exchanged frequently between the
master (CPU + PROFIBUS-DP-Master) and the slave (82XX, 8200 vector and 93XX). They
communicate via the attached slave module “fieldbus module 2133 PROFIBUS-DP”.
Both, PROFIBUS-DP master and CPU of the master access a common memory medium - the
Dual-Port-Memory (DPM).
The DPM allows data exchange in both directions (write/read):

Central processor
(CPU)
Ø Dual Port Memory (DPM) Ø PROFIBUS-DP-Master

Without further data organisation and within a cycle time it is possible that a slow write action of the
PROFIBUS_DP-Master is ’overtaken’ by a faster read action of the CPU.
In order to avoid an impermissible status the parameter data to be transferred must be “consistent”.

Data communication with existing consistency

With consistency it is possible to read or write the data memory if master and CPU access the
memory at the same time.
• The PROFIBUS-DP-Master transfers the data only as complete data set.
• The CPU can only access completely updated data sets.
• The PROFIBUS-DP-Master cannot read or write data as long the the CPU accesses
consistent data.
The result is explained by the following example:

Example:

Central processor Ø Dual Port Memory (DPM) Ø PROFIBUS-DP-Master

(CPU)

CPU wants to read ! at the same time: Master wants to write !

(Writing only possible if CPU is not reading !)
1. Waits until the data are read by the CPU.
2. Writes only complete data set to DPM.

Configuration of consistent data

Consistency is achieved by configuring the PROFIBUS-DP-Master accordingly (› 5-2). For this,
please see the corresponding Instructions for your Planning Software.

Note!
The consistency configuration depends on the planning software of the PROFIBUS_DP_Masters.
Please observe:
• Consistency is activated by any word in the consistent range
• Consistency is deactivated by a certain word.
• The word to deactivate the consistency depends on the CPU type, type of consistency and
address range.
