THE NATIONAL SERVICE

RESERVE CORPS
(NSRC)
Learning Objectives
At the end of the session, the
students are expected to
1. explain the functions of
NSRC, and
2. enumerate the
responsibilities of NSRC
members.
The NATIONAL SERVICE
TRAINING PROGRAM (NSTP)
is a program aimed at
enhancing civic consciousness
and defense preparedness in
the youth by developing the
ethics of service and patriotism
while undergoing training in
any of its three program
components.
RESERVE OFFICERS’
TRAINING CORPS. (ROTC)
Is designed to provide military
training to tertiary level
students in order to motivate,
train, organize and mobilize
them for national defense
preparedness.
LITERACY TRAINING
SERVICE (LTS)

Is designed to train the


students to teach literacy and
numeracy skill to school
children, out-of-school youth
and other segments of society
in need of their services.
CIVIC WELFARE TRAINING
SERVICE
Refers to the program component or
activities contributory to the general
welfare and the betterment of life for
the member of the community or the
enhancement of its facilities
especially those devoted to improving
health, education, safety, recreation,
entrepreneurship, protection of the
environment, morale of the citizenry
and other social services.
NATIONAL SERVICE
RESERVE CORPS (NSRC)
Mission:
To provide a trained and
motivated manpower pool that
can be tapped by the State for
civic welfare, literacy and other
similar endeavors in the
service of the nation.
COMPOSITION OF NSRC
The NSRC shall be composed
of the graduates of the Civic
Welfare Training Service
(CWTS) and Literacy Training
Service (LTS) components of
the NSTP.
FUNCTIONS OF NSRC
1. To assist in the disaster
preparedness, mitigation,
response and rehabilitation
programs.
2. To serve as an auxiliary to the
Disaster Coordinating Council
(DCC) response units.
3. To assist in the promotion of
civic welfare activities.
FUNCTIONS OF NSRC
4. To assist in the implementation
of literacy programs.
5. To assist in socio-economic
development.
6. To assist in environmental
protection.
7. To perform other similar
endeavors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
OF NSRC MEMBERS
1. Report to the call of NSRC for
training and respond
immediately for utilization in
cases of disasters / calamities
and other relevant socio –
economic service concerns as
the needs arise, through its
Centers & / or workplace at
the time of the call.

2. Register at the said Center
and get instructions/
briefing for specific duties
and responsibilities.
