Social Media

Advantages

 The overarching idea was it allowed access to people, communities and news.
 Others mention how social sites have increased their vocabulary especially when understanding
their emotions.
 We are learning how to socialize and better understand others.
 Instagram is more prone to teach us new approaches to cooking and health whereas Twitter may
be a forum for political debate.
 Another interesting aspect of how we learn about news is how we get to formulate our ideas not
only based on the news articles written and published for the general public.
 Everyone has the ability to share stories and promote education on different sides.
 Along with our exposure to education, social media also creates networks of individuals. This can
positively impact relationships with people you may not necessarily be able to see on a regular
basis.

Disadvantages

 Sometimes social media promotes a certain “fakeness” that affects our wellbeing. It teaches us
what and when we should post.
 We were taught we need to post picture evidence we are having fun so others know we are fun
people.
 Social media continues to morph and change the way we interact in everyday life.
 It brings us awareness of current events while also making us feel guilty about our mundane lives.

MOOC

Advantages

 All you need is the internet to participate, and many courses are free.
 Is online, which removes the limits of space and time. You can be anywhere to take a MOOC. And
you can go through the material at your own pace.
 There’s a complete set of video lectures and other material to help you learn a subject. Many
people take MOOCs for the pleasure of learning, but badges and certificates are available as well.
 Some teachers said that it intended to boost their online teaching skills.
 Many MOOCs are free, but for a small fee you can get a completion certificate.
 Learners expect career benefits, like boosting their job performance, helping them start a new
business and improving their application for a new job.
 As a place for lifelong learners and people looking to upgrade their skills or change careers.
 Generally, MOOCs attract learners with two types of motivation. Some are motivated by general
interest and personal growth. Others are motivated by professional advancement.
 Making higher education more accessible.
 The pandemic is refocusing attention on the opportunity for MOOCs to “democratize” higher
education, by providing cheap or free access to anyone in the world.
 It can help lower income inequality.
 With the catalyst of the pandemic, the full potential of MOOCs may be realized.

Disadvantages

 There might be a ‘skills gap’. Employers point to a “skills gap,” which is basically a mismatch
between the skills that employers require and the skills that job seekers possess.

rather it can be accessible at any time as per the need of the student. Both teacher and student will decide
where to study and when to study.

●Ubiquitous learning is also known as Context-aware Ubiquitous Learning because fast and speedy
growth of wireless communication, sensing, and mobile technologies has facilitated the students to learn
in such an environment that merges learning materials from both Real and Digital World.

●The communication between various types of ubiquitous devices and embedded computers in the
environment allows learner to learn while they are moving
