GROUP DISCUSSION / ROLEPLAY (30%)


[Demonstrate strategies for workplace interaction(A3)]

A. Roleplay (30%)

1. Form a group of 4-5 members. Appoint a leader and assign role for each member. Your group is expected to perform the
following task:

 Identify a problem OR an issue you would like to solve which is related to workplace.

For example:

Your company has just hired 10 new employees in the past two months. However, the
Managing Director notices that these new employees have nothing much to do. When
questioned, they say that they do not know their exact duties or whom to consult regarding
their duties. Your M.D calls you, the Personnel Manager, to check into this matter.

You are expected to discuss and reach an agreement on the solution for the problem identified. Finally, you are required to
present the process of solving the problem via role-play.

3. During the role-play, please make sure that you have the following elements and use the appropriate expressions for:

 starting the discussion – stating the objective of the discussion


 taking turns to talk
 reaching an agreement
 differentiate between facts and opinion
 expressing opinions (asking and giving)
 expressing agreement/disagreement
 making /asking for suggestions
 drawing a conclusion

4. Due to Restricted Movement Order (RMO), you only need to produce the role-play by recording the conversation through WA.
You can create your own WA group, record the role-play dialogues, compile and submit to the lecturers before the deadline. The
audio recording needs to be submitted through WA or/and on ULearn, depending on your lecturer’s instruction. The duration of
the audio is between 10 to 15 minutes.
