Food delivery:
The growing trend of smartphone app-based food deliveries in Bangladesh has allowed
various local and international players to compete with each other primarily in Dhaka,
Chittagong and Sylhet. The journey of food delivery started in 2013 with HungryNaki,
followed by the entrance of German-based food delivery company Foodpanda. However,
Foodpand has recently announced to discontinue their food delivery services in

Scope:
In Bangladesh, now is a good time for Foodpand to step up regarding their social
commitments. Particularly, if the demand for food delivery increasers because of a decline in
restaurant visits – it is even more important to maintain a healthy workforce. Beyond new
features, gimmicky or useful, it is essential that local startups educate riders and delivery
personnel on correct hand washing techniques, and in general, provide reliable guidance on
symptoms, basic health, and hygiene.

In sum, the on-demand food delivery business is a market with enormous growth potential,
but it is at these moments of crisis and change, that the outperformers can distinguish
themselves and carve a place in the customer's mind and heart while keeping riders and
customers safe, and perhaps even gaining coveted market share.

Delivering in the Wake of Pandemic:

Since the lockdowns were imposed in March, most of the e-commerce businesses had to halt
their operations, except the sellers of essential products. Demand for grocery, hygiene
products and medicine skyrocketed while non-essential products saw a plunge in demand.
Third-Party logistics (3PL) providers in Bangladesh who are not essential sellers such as
Foodpanda have experienced an almost 90 percent decrease in orders. The delivery
disruptions were acknowledged by the government as well and a mobile post office service
was introduced by Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) to deliver a wide range of products
including COVID-19 related medical equipment in the pandemic-stricken country.

The smartphone app-based delivery services put in efforts to capitalize on this opportunity
and started delivering the essential products. Foodpanda launched Pandamart to deliver
groceries and medicines, followed by Shohoz starting similar services. Anticipating the
necessity, the organized retail industry such as Shwapno, Agora, Meena too started partnering
up with these platforms.
by retailers in e-commerce, such as extend the delivery time, difficulty face during movement
control, social distance and lockdown The process of shipment and supply is quite slow now,
but still people buying because they do not have another alternative. Hence, people moving
towards technology due to virus.
Increasing demand of delivery men:
For increasing order food panda need more delivery man for delivering their food from their
place to customers place.
Easy to get delivery men:
For COVID-19 many people who earn very little, lost their job. And now to fulfil their needs
they need another job. Demand of delivery man also increases for this virus. So this people
who need another job, easily join in this delivery job. For this reason it is easy to get the
delivery man.
Increasing demand for new branch:
For this COVID-19 people can’t go out and maintaining social distance. They want to order
food from outside. But food panda don’t have their branch every place in Bangladesh. So
they increase their branch for the people. Before the COVID-19 it was not so easy to
establish their branch to people. But people demand it to increase their branch.
Limitation of Food Panda
FoodPanda availability coverage is very limited. FoodPanda is only available in the popular
cities in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang). Besides, as FoodPanda is only a third-party
platform that connects customer to the partnered restaurants, there is no management system
for the restaurants provided. FoodPanda only provides restaurants with a platform to promote
the restaurant‟s delivery service.
One of the major problem of foodpanda is delivery sysem in Bangladesh. sometimes they
take long time for delivery. which is make customer unhappy.
