PRINCIPLES ON HUMAN RIGHTS

I. Introduction

◦ This presentation is Unit 3 of the NSTP 1 Citizenship Training Module.

◦ This module will give emphasis on the Principles of Human Rights as


defined by the United Nations.

◦ Students are required to finish this lecture to complete the Unit 3 of


Module 1.
II. United Nations: Principles on Human
Rights

Human rights are universal and inalienable; indivisible;


interdependent and interrelated.

They apply to all equally, and all have the right to participate in
decisions that affect their lives. They are upheld by the rule of law and
strengthened through legitimate claims for duty-bearers to be
accountable to international standards.

III. In Conclusion
We all have rights.

We are all equal, and should treat each other in accordance: with respect, empathy and
love.

Let us continue to know more about those rights and exercise them with prudence.
