Refrigeration circuit

General - Refrigerant circuits

Units shall operate with R410A HFC-based refrigerant with a GWP of 2088. Each
refrigerant circuit shall have independent electronic expansion devices, service
pressure ports and refrigerant line filter driers factory-installed as standard. An area
shall be provided for replacement suction line driers. Refrigeration circuits shall be
protected against refrigerant leaks. Service valves shall be provided as standard and
located on the low pressure side of the refrigeration piping.

Heat exchangers
The outdoor heat exchanger shall operate on 100% outdoor air. The coil will be
constructed with 5/16" copper tubes mechanically bonded to plate aluminum plate
fins.

The indoor heat exchanger coils shall be 3/8"internally finned copper tubes
mechanically bonded to high performance aluminum plate fins. Indoor coils shall be
protected with an anti-frost control protection.

Sloped condensate drain pans are standard and provided in full aluminum, and shall
be completely removable for trouble-free maintenance.

Coils will be factory leak tested at 50 bars. If the unit will be installed on corrosive
environment, an option shall be provided for aluminum fins pre-coated with gold
epoxy, with minimum thickness of 8µm, in order to withstand 1000 hours of salt spray
test according ISO 9227.

Electrical panel
Unit shall be provided with an IP54 power panel, with a single point connection with
disconnect switch. The disconnect switch shall be mechanically interlocked to
disconnect line power from power panel, accessible from the outside the unit. All
components and control cables shall be numbered in accordance with CEI 60750.

Fresh air management

Free cooling
The economizer shall be factory installed and provided as a standard for fresh air
management and free cooling applications. The assembly includes: fully modulating
0-100 percent motor and dampers, regulated by an independent ModBus controller
device, minimum position setting, preset linkage, wiring harness, and differential
enthalpy control.

Building pressurization control: Barometric relief damper

The unit shall be provided with a barometric relief damper. The barometric relief
damper shall deliver space pressure equalization and be gravity closing to prohibit
entrance of outside air during the equipment "off" cycle.

Building pressurization control: Power exhaust fan

Power exhaust fan shall be of EC type. It shall be available as a factory installed
option on all unit sizes. It shall assist the barometric relief damper in maintaining
building pressurization.

CO2 sensor
This accessory shall measure CO2 concentration inside the building in order to
increase or decrease the fresh air amount introduced into the building via the rooftop
unit. It shall be compatible with the fresh air and free cooling functions.

Energy recovery (ERM)

The unit shall be equipped with a heat recovery module. The module shall be
provided in one single package which is easy to install without the requirement for an
additional roofcurb. The module shall include:
 Rotary enthalpy wheel, certified by Eurovent
 Exhaust fan of EC plug fan type
 Micro-inverter for freeze protection
 Temperature and humidity sensors
 G4 filters on fresh air
 G4 filters on exhaust air

When free cooling is needed, energy recovery shall be bypassed to avoid heat
exchange on the fresh flow entering the building. Fresh air and exhaust air flow shall
be filtered using G4 filters before entering the heat exchanger in order to prevent
exchanger clogging.

Controls

Controls - General
Units shall be completely factory wired with necessary controls and terminal block for
power wiring. Units shall provide an external location for mounting a fused disconnect
device. The unit controller shall be provided for all 24 volt control functions.

The resident control algorithms shall make all heating, cooling and/or ventilating
decisions in response to electronic signals from sensors measuring indoor and
outdoor temperatures. The control algorithm maintains accurate temperature control,
minimizes drift from set point and provides better building comfort. The unit controller
shall provide anti-short cycle timing and time delay between compressors to provide
a higher level of machine protection.

Heat pump units shall manage alternate defrost cycles based on demand defrost
logic.

Unit shall be powered by 400V/3/50Hz supply (without neutral) on a single point of

power connection.

through the side (horizontally) of the outdoor section of the unit and into the control
box area.

Disconnect switch:
A factory installed disconnect switch with an external handle shall be mounted inside
the unit control box.

Dirty filter detection

This option allows for individual dirty filter indication. In case of dirty filter, a warning
shall be available on the Service Terminal or Building Automation System.
