Ans. The work of a Tehsildar includes the following responsibilities:

• To hear the disputes related to land.

• To supervise the work of the Patwaris.

• To ensure that land records are properly kept and land revenue is collected.

Q.-2 How do women benefit from the New Law?

Ans. The Hindu Succession Amendment Act 2005 envisages that all sons daughters and their

mothers will get an equal share of the father’s agricultural land.

Ans.

• The police are responsible for maintaining law and order to establish peace in society.

• Whenever there is any case of theft, accident, injury, fight, etc., it is their responsibility of

the police to enquire, investigate and take action.

Ans. Primary duties of Patwari

• Each Patwari is responsible for maintaining the record of crops grown on various fields,
wells, and tube wells etc.

• The Village records are kept and updated by the Patwari.

• He is also responsible for coordinating farmers land revenue collection.

Q.-5 Who heads the district police force? Describe his function?

Ans. The police administration in the district is under the Superintendent of Police

Q.-1 Describe the Police administration in a district

Ans.

I. The superintendent of police and other police officers work under the District collector.

II. Each District is divided into 5 or 6 sub-divisions and are placed under the charge of a

deputy superintendent of police.

III. Each police station has an inspector of police, sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector

and a head constable.

IV. There is also a chowkidar in each village He reports to the police station about crime and

bad characters

Q.-2 Discuss the working of the land revenue department

Ans.

• For the efficient working of the revenue administration the district is divided into a number

of Tehsils

• A Tehsildar is assisted by a Naib Tehsildar and a Kanungo

• A patwari is responsible for maintaining land and revenue records of a few villages

Q.-3 Bring out the main features of the Hindu Succession Amendment Act, 2005

Ans.
I. According to the Hindu succession amendment act 2005, the governments of

India introduced a new law that girls have also right in father's property as well as the son

have in their father's property, there will be two equal halves of the property.

II. Now they can own the property of their parents. This has brought about a sense of

security in their minds, so that it can help them financially in times of their needs.

Q.-4 Which values do you think should be promoted by the police Administration?

• Respect for the rights of others.

• People should not indulge in crime or resort to violence.

• Respect for law.

Q.-1 Find out the work that the police have to do to prevent crime and maintain law and
order in their area especially during festivals, public meetings etc.
Ans: During festivals, public meetings, etc. the police become more active in order to control
crime and maintain law and order.
➢ CC TV cameras are installed in the area at different places to keep watch on the activities
of the people.
➢ To control the mob, they barricade the area.
➢ Police personnels are deployed.
➢ Some information booths are also installed.
➢ Proper lighting is also made.

Q. 2 Why have States and Union Territories been divided into smaller units? What are
these units called?(HOTS)
Ans. Being a large country, India is divided into states and union territories. They have been further
divided into smaller units. This has been done because carrying out the administration of the huge
country like India from one place is not possible. The division of the country into several units has
enabled better governance of the country. These smaller units are known as districts. Today there
are more than 600 districts in India
