Overspeed Test
For the time period of the overspeed test the overspeed limit is set to 85% of the nominal
speed. Thus it is possible to test the shut down valves without danger for the engine.

The following overspeed test is available for

NOTICE
devices type series N3000-SAP revision G
or higher.

CAUTION The functionality of the shut down valves

must be tested prior to application. Otherwise
engine damage may occur!

Legend N3000-SAP LED Status

LED off LED flashing LED on

Colour code of LEDs:
gn=green; rd= red; wh=white

Starting the overspeed test:

 Prerequisite: The system must be restarted (switching the power supply off and on
again)

 Prerequisite: engine speed = 0 RPM / engine off

 Prerequisite: no shut down channel is activated

 Prerequisite: no system failure

1 Press the <<RESET>> and the <<TEST>>

key simultaneously on the N3000-SAP
for longer than 2 seconds
 The test mode will be started (see LED status, next table).

N3000-SAP LED Status

 If the engine is not running within the next 2 minutes after calling up the test mode, the
test mode will be aborted automatically.

2 Start the engine (n > firing speed).

 The LED „Engine Run“ is green illuminated (see LED status, next table).

 If the overspeed test limit is not reached within the next 5 minutes after the engine has
been started, the test mode will be aborted automatically.

3 Increase the engine speed.

 The shut down valves will be activated as soon as 85 % of the nominal speed is reached
(see LED status, next table).

 The engine speed decreases to 0 RPM.

4 Press the <<Reset>> key to reset

the overspeed test (see LED status,
next table).
