CEUs will be co-sponsored by Westbrook Health Services and WVCEH for Social Workers
and Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
The cost for 11 hours CEUs is the $25 registration fee for the conference if not a member
of WVCEH; $15 if a member.

Plenary Session 1, 9:00 - 11:00: The HEARTH Act and how to prepare for
meeting the new HUD community-wide performance standards and the new
federal regulations governing homeless programs. Speaker: Norm Suchar, Na-
tional Alliance to End Homelessness.
Plenary Session 2, 11:15 - 12:30: Using the Homeless Management Information
System (HMIS) to prepare for new community-wide performance standards:
panel discussion with Norm Suchar, Chris Pitcher (HUD TA provider) and Loren
Hoffman (former HUD TA provider).
Plenary Session 3: 1:30 - 3:00: The US Interagency Council on Homelessness –
how the federal agencies are expecting communities to make progress on ten-
year plans to end homelessness and how you can chart your progress using
HMIS. Laura Zeilinger, US ICH.
Plenary Session 4: 3:15 – 4:15: General Membership meeting, WVCEH.

Plenary Session 5: 9:00 - 11:00: Working effectively with mentally ill and sub-
stance abuse disordered homeless clients – a harm reduction/housing first ap-
proach. Dr. Gabor Mate, best-selling author of “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts,
Encounters with Addiction”.
Plenary Session 6: 11:15 - 12:30: Tracking delivery of services to our clients and
their stability through use of the self –sufficiency matrix in HMIS: Anna Burns
and Zach Brown, WVCEH.
Plenary Session 7: 1:30 - 2:30: Panel discussion of Housing First Model from
Huntington, WV: working to keep our clients housed, tracking disability services,
stability, independence and housing permanency using HMIS.
Plenary Session 8: 2:45 - 4:15: Understanding the Stress-Disease Connection:
Dr. Gabor Mate, best-selling author of “When the Body Says No, The Hidden
Cost of Stress”.
$15 FOR WVCEH MEMBER AGENCY STAFF (WITH DUES CURRENTLY PAID)
If you plan to stay the night at Stonewall Resort, you will need to call (888) 278-8150 to re-
serve your room. WVCEH has set aside a block of rooms for conference attendees at a
special rate of $79 per night. This rate if good for June 7, 8 and 9. Be sure to specify when
making your reservation that you are with the “WVCEH Conference”. The best chance of
getting a room at this rate is to reserve before May 9, although rooms will be available at that
rate after that date, as space at Stonewall Resort is available.
