There are a multitude of online resources on how to brew loose leaf tea. The following is just a basic guide that we've compiled after searching through the wild web.
1. Prepare your brewing container. Be it a cup, pot, or french press.
2. Prepare the amount of tea leaves needed. Generally, we found that 2-3 grams (most eyeball it as a teaspoon) of tea leaves per 8oz (236.5mL) cup. You may place this in the provided tea bag, french press, infuser, or even loose inside your tea pot or cup. 3. Bring your filtered water to a rolling boil. As the English Breakfast blend is a black tea variety, the prescribed temperature for steeping is 99-100 degC (210.2-212 degF) 4. It is recommended to boil water in excess for preheating of your empty cup/pot/press. Immediately after boiling, transfer some water into your empty pot/cup/press; swirl it about, and throw out the water used for washing/pre-heating. 5. Additionally, if the leaves are in a bag or infuser, you may opt to bloom/wash them with a bit of boiled water. 6. Add in your tea leaves to your container and pour the hot water, ensuring that all leaves are hydrated. 7. Start your timer for 2-3 minutes. Immediately separate the leaves from the tea liquor. If you placed them loose in a pot or cup, it is recommended to strain them out by transferring onto another pot or cup. 8. You may re-steep the leaves for about 1-2 times more, increasing the steeping time by 1-2 mins per instance to get the same tea strength, or keep the steeping time same to lighten the tea strength.
