May 9—13 is National Library Legislative Week

Virtual Library Legislative Day is part of the American Library
Association’s (ALA) National Library Legislative Day on May
10, when hundreds of library advocates will descend on
Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and their
staffs. Library advocates who cannot make it to Capitol Hill
for the event can still be a part of the effort by calling
and/or e-mailing their elected officials on May 10 – or any
time during the week of May 9-13.

By asking your elected official to vote for libraries, you can

make a difference.

Our elected official is Senator Richard T. Moore. Take the

time to e-mail Senator Moore and voice your support for
your local libraries. He can be reached at:

Advanced Reader Copies have arrived

The Somerville, MA-based Candlewick Press, a phenomenal publisher of
children’s and young adult books, has been kind enough to send us several
advanced reader copies of titles soon to be released. This is a great way
to preview new books before they hit bookstore shelves.
In return for sending us these copies, Candlewick would love to have us
post student/staff reviews of these titles on our library blog. Reviews can
be short and simple, just a little blurb to indicate what you thought of the
book.
Be one of the first to preview these new books and stop by the library to
take a peek at the most recent titles we have received!

Summer is Almost Here

Summer is almost here which for many of us means lots of time at the beach. Check out some of the great
titles we have waiting for you at the UHS library. Take advantage of your free time over the summer and
catch up on all of those books you’ve been wanting to read but haven’t had the time to!
