Object:
To be familiar with Automatic Change over switch operation.
Theory:
Two lines must be provided for important loads, such as hospitals
and government buildings, the mainline, which feeds these loads, and
the second line is an emergency line, and the transfer to them is done
by automatic switching.
Procedure:

 Connect the circuit shown in fig. (1), set t1 = 30sec, t2 = 20sec.

 Turn ON switch (1) and check the operation of contactor (1).
 Turn OFF switch (1) and turn on switch (2) and check operation of contactor (2).
 Turn ON switch (1), contactor (2) will be switch OFF and contactor (1)
will operate after certain time delay (t1).
Discussion:

 What are the advantage of automatic than manual change over

switch?
In the automatic transfer switch, switching between lines is done
automatically in contrast to the manual transfer switch
 What is the application of Automatic Change over switch?
Used in homes for low loads such as (lighting and household
appliances) Used in stores with medium loads
