1. Overview
BX 5D is a high tech truck scale indicator designed for easy usage and reporting at
weighbridges. It has first weighing, second weighing and single weighing keys for truck
scale application for direct accessing to the weighing process. The indicator had been
designed according to OIML R76 recommendations, 90/384/EEC directive and EN45501
standard.

BX 5D weighing indicator can be used in both single range and dual range scales. The
weight data can be printed together with header and footer, date, time, vehicle ID, ID1 and
ID 2 on the label. It also has ability of 99 vehicle weight memories and 99 alphanumerical
ID1 and ID2 memories in total.

Alphanumeric headers and ID1 & ID2 such as customer, products etc. can be defined
freely and downloaded to BX 5D and can be printed.

1.1. Basic Features

2. Installation and Commissioning
PRECAUTION: Please read this manual carefully before energizing the indicator and
perform the commissioning operation according the procedure given here. Use trained
personnel for cleaning, commissioning, checking and service of the indicator. The
interference of untrained personnel may cause some unwanted damages or injures.
You have to install the scale related parts of the scale first as described below and after
calibration of the scale , connect the required peripherals.
Note : From this point forward in this manual, the term “ Digital Load Cell “ will be refered
to as “ DLC “.

2.1 Mechanical Installation


First of all please determine the place where your indicator can operate safely. The place
where you will use/install your indicator should be clean, not getting direct sun light if
possible, with a temperature between -10ºC and +40ºC, humidity 85% non condensing at
most and the cables should be installed safely to avoid mechanical damages.
Take care to the housing dimensions and the suggested panel hole dimensions given in
the Chapter 3. To avoid electrical noises, protect your indicator which has very low input
signal level from the equipments that produces electrical noise in panel mounting.

2.2 Electrical Installation


There are two jumpers on BX 5D’s main board for calibration and for On/Off switch. To
change the position of these jumpers, open the housing and perform necessary changes
before energizing the indicator. J8 On/Off Switch

The quality of instrument’s grounding will provide weighing accuracy and the safety of your
indicator and the platform used with it. A poor ground can result in an unsafe condition if
an electrical short develops in the equipment. A good ground connection is needed to
minimize extraneous electrical noise pulses. It is important that BX 1D does not share
power lines with noise-generating equipment such as heavy load switching, motor control
equipments and inductive loads etc.

If you have to service the indicator, turn the power of and wait at least 30 seconds before
interfering the instrument.

All connectors are at the rear side of the housings of desk and panel types. The stainless
steel housings must be opened to make required connections. These connections must be
done as described below.

2.3 DLC Connection


The load cell wiring should be made carefully before energizing to avoid BX 5D and load
cells from damages. The instrument cable between the instrument and junction box must
be convenient for high speed RS485 interface and shielded.

2.4 RS-232C Serial Interface Connection


The connection of the standard RS232C ( Interface-1 ) serial interface of BX 5D should be
made as given in the table below.

2.5 Commissioning
After making the required installations and connections of BX 5D, turn the power on and
set the parameters up depend on your application. Then the weighing related adjustments
– load cell addressing, eccentricity adjustment and calibration- must be done in sequence
as described below.

Load cell addressing


Digital load cell related parameter 22- group is used for introducing and addressing the
DLC’s as described in page 36. Before addressing the load cell you have to enter the
load cell quantity of the platform to the parameter 221. The DLC quantity can be up to 16.
The second stage is DLC’s addressing. The following diagram shows the addressing
principles of the DLC’s of the vehicle scale. The numbers in the diagram shows the DLC
addressing principle for easy eccentricity adjustment.

For addressing any DLC, you have to enter the serial number of the DLC to the address
number in parameter 222 as described in the following paragraph. The serial number of
the DLC can be entered to the indicator up to 9 digit. The last 6 digit is entered after
entering the first 3 digit of the serial number. If the S/N is less than 9 digits, the unused
digits on the left must be entered as 0. For example, if the serial number is 1234567,
001234567 must be entered as a serial number.
Press the <Trans> key to enter the parameter 222 for DLC addressing. You will see [222
01]
and [ XXXXXX ] as toggle. Here 01 is the address of the DLC and XXXXXX is the last 6
digits of the DLC. For entering the serial number of the DLC to address 1, press the
<Trans> key, and enter the first 3 digits of the S/N. Press Enter key for last 6 digit of the
S/N. Use numerical keys for changing digits of the S/N. After entering of the S/N, press
the Enter key for the following DLC. After entering the last DLC serial number to the
indicator, the [20- ] is seen on the display. This means all load cells are addressed and
ready to work in the scale.
For changing any load cell, you have to readdress the new load cell in parameter 222.
After installing the new load cell, turn on the indicator, Enter parameter 222 and than reach
the load cell address you changed and enter the serial number of the new load cell as
described in the previous paragraph.

Eccentricity adjustment
The eccentricity adjustment must be done in parameter group 32- before calibration of the
scale.
This adjustment can be done for each load cell independently or for sectional pairs. To
apply this selection , enter the parameter 320 and set to 0 for independent DLC or set to
1 for sectional pair adjustment method. After selection of this adjustment procedure , the
adjustment must performed automatically as described in parameter 321.
After entering the parameter 321 by pressing the <Trans> key, you will see “Zero.CA” on
the display. Unload the scale and press the enter key. Do not interfere the scale during “
wait” message on the display. After this step, BX 5D will display [ 321 01] on the display.
Place the weight of at least 10% of the DLC capacity as close as possible to the
independent load cell or sectional pair 01. Than press the enter key. After some period [
321 02] appears on the display. Apply
the same load on to the other places in sequence. At the end of the adjustment , the
message [ 322 ] will seen on the display. This means the eccentricity error correction is
done automatically.

If need be, you can improve the eccentricity error manually in parameter 322 by changing
the error correction coefficient of the each load cell or sectional pair.

Calibration
After eccentricity adjustment, the calibration is performed. The calibration is done in
parameter group 3-- and described on pages 36 - 37 in detail. The calibration process
should be performed with test weights, at least 10% of the scale capacity.

After checking the performance of your weighing instrument you can begin to use the
indicator. If there are peripheral connections, first you should turn the power off; make the
peripheral connections, perform the required safety checks and energize the indicator.
Then set the related parameters and check if the peripheral devices are operating
properly.

4. Front Panel and Key Functions

4.1 Display
The weight display of BX 5D is seven segments LED. At the left side of the weight display,
a group of indication LED’s (6 LED’s) take place that have different meanings according to
process, and under the weight display 6 LED’s take place related to the weighing. At the
right side of the display there are three LED’s for indicating the info, gross and the unit
(standard kg).

The meanings of the indication LEDs about under the display are:

Pwr : This LED will flash in case of low voltage. If the voltage decreases more,
the indicator will automatically shut off.

: With multi range scales these LED’s indicate the range that scale operates.
For single range scales only first range LED lits.

: Means preset tare is in function.

: Means the weight value on the display is stable.

: Means the weight is in real zero range.

Here is the meaning of the LEDs on the left of the display:

Ready : Indicates the instrument is ready for weighing process.


1 : Indicates the first weighing is in progress.
2 : Indicates the second weighing is in progress.
PVehicle : Indicates the instrument is in the preset vehicle weight process.
Transit : Indicates the transit weighing is in progress.

4.2 Key Pad


On the front panel of the BX 5D there are 19 keys. The functions of these keys are:

On/Off: It is used for turning BX 5D on or off. To turn the indicator off, this
key must be pressed and hold at least 2 seconds. This key can be inhibited
during programming. This key is not available on panel type housing.
Function: <F > key is used in combination with other keys and this key is
used to reset any weighing process.

Info: This key is used to view the truck quantity in the temporary first
weighing memory. Press this key to go back to weighing mode again.

Zeroing: If the scale doesn’t show zero while there is no load on the pan,
this key is pressed to make it zero.

Transit: Pressing this key starts the transit weighing cycle.

Preset Vehicle Weight: Pressing this key starts the weighing with preset
vehicle weight value.

First: Pressing this key starts the first truck weighing cycle.

Second: Pressing this key starts the second truck weighing cycle.

Enter: This key is used for going to the next step in the weighing cycle,
confirming the typed value and to get to the next parameter in setting mode.

ID: Used for numeric ID entry.

Memory: This key is used for data entry from preset vehicle weight memory
or ID memory; Or storing vehicle weight to memory.

High Resolution: By pressing this key the weight value can be viewed with
higher resolution in a short period.

Ticket No: After pressing this key, first [CN ] message appears on the
display then the last CN number is displayed. If you enter the CN number
and press the <Enter> key, the related weighing ticket is reprinted.
Press <F> key or wait for a while to return back to the ready status
automatically.
Reprint: This key is used for reprinting the last weighing ticket in ready
status of the indicator.

Report Daily: This key is used for daily report.

Report DD: This key is used for reporting between two dates.

Report CN: This key is used for reporting between two ticket numbers.

Report Accu PV: This key is used for accumulator report of the vehicles in
the preset vehicle weight memory.

Numerical Keys: These keys are used for entering numerical values in
programming, or for entering ID and PT value.

5. Vehicle Weighing
BX 5D indicator can be used in various type of truck weighing which are First & Second
weighing, weighing with preset vehicle weight and transit weighing.

If any of truck weighing process is not in operation, indicator waits in ready status by
lightening Ready LED on the left top of the display. One of the operation key is pressed to
start any weighing cycles. The weighing tickets are produced after weighing cycles
automatically, if any.

At ready status, if ASCII P is received to the port which is programmed for PC software
interface or Ticket printing, or if Print command is received at PC software interface
mode, the indicator transmits the weight data via this port. This feature gives flexible
usage advantage to the user for usage with PC software in normal ; but directly printing
ticket via BX 5D when PC is out of order. The weighing data in BX 5D might be
transferred to PC after functioning PC.

Warning: In weighbridge operation, the operator attention and concentration is very


important for the correct data entry. If operator entries the wrong data, it is not possible to
cancel the operation after printing the ticket or to change the records in the memory.

5.1. First & Second Weighing


This is the most common truck weighing operation; the truck is weighed two times and the
ticket is printed with the difference as a net weight after the second weighing.

First weighing:

This first weighing data is stored in to the temporarily first weighing memory and produces
the inbound weighing ticket for the outbound operation.

Second weighing:

This second weighing data is combined together with the first weighing data and produces
weighing ticket. After second weighing, the related temporarily first weighing memory can
not be used again and truck weighing data is stored.

5.2. Weighing with Preset Vehicle Weight
This is the truck weighing operation which weigh the truck only once and calculate the Net
weight by using the preset vehicle weight to earn time. Vehicle weights can be saved to
the Preset Vehicle Weight Memory before or can be entered numerically.

5.3. Transit Weighing

This is the truck weighing which weights only transit vehicles. There is no Net weight
calculation in this weighing process.

6. Traffic Light Control
If the instrument is equipped with Digital 3 In / 3 Out option, traffic light control is activated
automatically. BX 5D accept the weighbridge is unloaded if the weight is less than 20e.

Input-1 can be used for zeroing and Input-2 can be used for printing in ready status.

The electrical connection of the inputs and outputs should be made as seen in the Figure
4. The input voltage should be max. 28 VDC and the optically isolated input current is 30
mA ; The supply voltage needed for the outputs is max. 28 VDC and the max. total output
current is 300 mA.

7. Reports
Reporting feature of BX 5D is very powerful and easy in usage. There are fast access keys
for various report types to earn time at report printing. Five types report are available
which are daily report, report between two dates, report between two ticket number,
accumulation report for preset vehicles in the memory and temporary first memory report.
Reprint of the last ticket is additional feature of the instrument. Reports include all
programmed and entered data with header as seen below.

7.1 Daily Report


You can print all weighing data belong to Ready Status
the last day. This report shall be produced
before ending the day. For producing this
report first press <Daily> key in ready
status. Press <Enter> key after “Daily ” [ Daily? ]

7.2 Reporting Between Two Dates


You can print all weighing data between two
dates by <Report DD> key. Ready Status

After pressing <Report DD> key in ready

8. Memory Operations
8.1 Temporary First Weighing Memory
Up to 99 first weighing data are saved in to the Temporary First Weighing Memory for
using this data at the second weighing. After the outbound operation of any inbounded
truck, the related first weighing data is deleted from the temporary first memory.

The first weighing data is stored to temporary memory with its vehicle ID. The vehicle ID is
printed on the First Ticket for using this number at the second weighing. If the same
vehicle ID is exist in the temporary memory, the instrument warns the operator and the
new ID shall be entered.

It is not possible to change any data in this memory or enter new data in to this memory.
The only possibility is to delete any truck record by using its vehicle ID which will not be
needed later.
To access any Temporary First Weighing Memory, press <F> and <First> keys in
sequence. The [ teMp ] message appears on the display. Press <Enter> key to enter the
menu. Vehicle ID and first weight value toggles on the display. Press  and  keys to
go to the any other record.

To delete any truck record from the temporary first weighing memory, press <First> key
while its vehicle ID is displaying as [XXXXXX]. [dEL XX] message appears on the display.
The record is deleted after pressing <Enter> key. If you want to delete all records, press
<Zero> key instead of <Enter> key, [ ALL ?] message appears . If you press <Enter>
key, [ SUrE ?] message appears and all temporary first weighing memory records are
deleted after pressing the <Enter> key. Record delete cycle is aborted by pressing <F>
key.

If you press <Second> key, during displaying temporary first weighing memory ( toggling
vehicle ID and first weight value ), temporary memory report is printed.

8.2 ID Memory
BX 5D has two ID codes and ability to assign names to them for print out. These IDs can
either be entered via related keys or can be loaded via serial ports in host mode with
alphanumeric ID even with the indicators that don’t have alphanumeric keys.
BX 5D has 99 ID memories. This memory can be freely shared between two IDs by the ID
codes. ID codes and their alphanumeric ID names are loaded to BX 5D in host mode via
serial port from PC by INDFACE software.
To call any ID from the memory, press M key in ID entry step of weighing operation cycle ;
then [ID --] prompt appears on the display. Enter the ID code ( from 1 to 99 ) and
confirm it with Enter key. If you want to turn back to the manual ID entry status, you can
simply press F key while [ıd XX] prompt is on the display.
If you download ID headers to BX 5D by INDFACE, the new ID headers can be printed
instead of default ID headers which are “Customer” for ID 1 and “Commodity” for ID 2.

8.3 Preset Vehicle Weight Memory
99 numerical vehicle weight values can be stored in BX 5D indicator and can be called as
a preset tare to find the net weight.
To store a numerical vehicle weight value into memory, first you have to press <M> keys
sequentially in ready status. After [MeMorY] message is shown on the display, press <PV>
key. [PtN X] message will appear on the display which means that you have reached the
first PT record in the vehicle weight memory. You can directly enter the record number of
the desired vehicle weight or you can search vehicle weight code by pressing  and 
keys. After reaching the desired vehicle record number, you can get in by pressing
<Enter> key. The vehicle weight value will be seen on the display. Type the new preset
tare value via numerical keys then press <Enter> key to confirm the entered value. The
indicator goes to the next record automatically. Press <F> key to go back to weighing.
For selecting vehicle weight value ( any preset tare value ) from the memory in <PV>
operation, press <M> key when after seeing [P.no ] message on the display. [P.no --]
message is appears on the display. Type the related preset vehicle weight code - from 1
to 99 - via numerical keys and confirm it with <Enter> key. The chosen preset tare value
will be seen on the display for a little while and then the next step appears on the display.
If the selected preset tare code is empty [EMPtY] message will appear on the display. If
the weight value is smaller than zero or greater than the scale capacity [Err Pt] message
appears on the display. The messages can be accepted by pressing <Enter> key and new
values can be entered.

9. Serial Interface and Weighing Ticket


BX 5D can be connected to peripherals via serial ports. The baud rate of serial data output
can be selected as 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400 or 57600. Data length and
parity can be 8 bit no parity, 7 bit even parity, 7 bit odd parity. The serial data interface has
1 start bit and 1stop bit.

Only continuous output can be programmed for more than one interface.

9.3 Print Mode:


The format of the data output in Print mode can be selected in 2 different type forms in the
parameter group 04- . The print format is not available more than one interface.

It is possible to load 4 lines of header and 2 line of footer to BX 5D and print a ticket with
header and footer for strip printer and label printer formats. Header & footer of the tickets
and ID headers can be loaded to BX 5D indicator by BAYKON INDFACE PC software via
serial port in host mode. The free INDFACE software can be downloaded from BAYKON
web site.

10. Alibi Memory
BX 5D keeps the last 9,583 weighing records in the loop alibi memory. The Ticket
number - which is also alibi record number - can not be changed manually. This recorded
data can be seen on the indicator’s display or can be transmitted via serial port.

Reports printed by the report keys in the front of the indicator are also can be used as an
alibi memory report, if included required data.

The empty fields will be printed as ------ , PT characters are located on the right of the
preset vehicle weight value, “ Transit ” message will be printed on the first weighing
column of the transit weighing operation and the corrupted records will be printed as ******.
For the records of which weighing results can not be given, the message [ no rec ] will be
seen on display.

After installing the alibi board or changing main board changed Error 41 or 42 will seen on
the display after power on for activating alibi memory. If the calibration jumper is short
circuited, you can activate the alibi board by pressing enter key after power on. Otherwise,
the alibi errors will be disappeared by pressing <Enter> key, but you could not get any
data output from BX 5D (Error 40 will be seen after pressing <Reprint> key).

By parameter 804, you can print the information data about alibi card. These data are;

SN : Alibi card pin code,


SA : The start alibi record number with this indicator,
LA : The last alibi record number with this indicator,
CN : Calibration counter number,
CS : Check sum status,
AS : Alibi memory record capacity.

11. Programming and Calibration
In this section you will find the programming and calibration procedure of BX 5D indicator
according to your application. The signs those take place on the lower right corner of the
keys indicate the function of the keys in programming menu. The basic meanings of these
keys are given in the table below.

11.1.Entering the Programming and Calibration Menu


Press <F> and Info keys sequentially to enter the Programming and Calibration Menu.
First [FunC ] and then [PASSWr ] prompts will be seen on the display sequentially. Here
you can enter to the parameters block by using the service password (<Zero> and <Info>)
or the operator password (<Trans>) and confirm with <Enter>. The calibration jumper
should be short circuited to change the legal Metrologic related parameters in service
mode.
Programming and Calibration menu consist of main blocks which are shown as [X-- ]
and sub-blocks. By using  and  keys you can reach previous or next main blocks.
After reaching the desired main block, you can get in by pressing <Enter> key. As you
enter the block you will reach the first sub-block in that main block. The sub-block address
will be seen on the display as [X0- ]. You can also search between the sub-blocks by
using  and  keys and reach the first parameter of the sub-block seen on the display
by pressing <Enter> key. The number of the parameter comes on display as [XY0 ].
Again you can search between parameters by  and  keys.

11.2.Exiting the Programming and Calibration Menu


If you press <F> key on which parameter you are, you will get out of the active sub-block
and reach the next sub-block. If you press <F> key again, you will get out of the active
block and reach the next main block. If you press <F> key once again, the [SAvE ]
message appears on the display. Here you can press <Enter> key to save the changes
into the memory, or you can press <Info> key to store the changes until the power off, or
you can press <F> key to abort changes. [Waıt] message will be seen on the display for a
little while, and automatically get back to weighing mode.

Especially for legal metrological usage, please don’t forget to turn the power off and
remove the calibration jumper to start operation.

In this block the proper filter values according to the operating conditions can be entered.
One of the most important features of BX series is viewing filter characteristic on the
display and with the help of this option, you can select the most suitable filter without
exiting the programming mode.

[120 X ] Filter
The filter value can be selected from 0 to 4. As you enter this parameter and press
Enter key while [120 X] seen on the display, the weight variation can be seen on
the display. The value of the filter can be changed by using  and  keys and the
weight variation for every value can be seen on the display. After finishing the filter
selection you can go to next step by pressing the F key.

[14-] Entries
In this block you can enter date and time.

0 = disable 1 = ± 2% 2 = ±20%

[204 X] Auto Zero Tracking


AZT automatically readjusts the scale to zero for compensating selected small
deviation per second around centre of zero.

0 = disable 1 = ± 0,5e 2 = ± 1e 3 = ± 3e

[206 X] Motion Detector


This parameter defines the sensitivity level which will determine what is considered
as stable.

0 = ± 0,3e 1= ± 0,5e 2= ± 1e 3= ± 2e 4= No motion detector

[208 X] Stability Time


If the scale is stabile during this time, the scale is accepted as a stabile to process
zeroing, tare, print etc. commands. It can be entered up to 9.9 sec.

[22-] DLC Configuration Block
In this section the DLC’S are introduced to the indicator.
[220 X] DLC Type
This parameter must be 0 for RC3D digital load cell.
0 = RC3D
[221 XX] Quantity of DLC
Enter the quantity of DLC used in the scale. This quantity can be entered between
1 and 16.
[222 ] DLC Addressing
For addressing of DLC’s, press the <Trans> key.
The messages [222 YY] and [ XXXXXX ] will be seen on the display in toggle.
Here ;
YY = DLC number /address and
X = last 6 digit of the DLC serial number.
If you press the Enter key the following load cell appears. you can enter the S/N, by
pressing the <Trans> key. Serial numbering system of the indicator is 9 digits. First
you will see the first 3 digit of the S/N. Enter this digits by pressing the numerical
keys. If the serial number of the DLC is less than 9 digits, the unused digits on the
left must be entered as 0. For example, if the serial number is 1234567, 001234567
must be entered.
After entering first 3 digits, the following 6 digits is entered by pressing enter key.
After entering all serial numbers sequentily, the display goes to parameter group 20-
.
F key is also used to return the parameter group 20-.

[3--] Calibration Block


The calibration of the scale will be performed here.

[30-] Calibration

[301 ] Calibration
Begin the calibration by pressing <Enter> key. Unload the scale when the displays
shows [ZEro.CA] message and press <Enter> key. The display will show [WAıt ]
message during zero calibration. In this while the pan must be empty and the scale
must be stable. Approximately 10 seconds later display will show [LoAd ] and then
[ XXXXXX ] . The value shown on the display is the weight that should be used for
span calibration. If the value of the test weights that will be used is different from the
value shown on the display, type the new value via numerical keys, place the test
weights on the scale and press Enter key. Just like zero calibration [WAıt ] message
will shown on the display 10 seconds while span calibration is being performed.
Then indicator will prompt you to save the calibration by [SAvE ] message. You can
save the calibration by pressing Enter key. Pressing F key will not save the
calibration.

[31-] Adjustment
In this sub-block you can only perform zero adjustment or span adjustment without
full calibration operation.

[310 ] Zero Adjustment


This parameter is only being used for refreshing the zero level of the scale to
prevent wrong weightings from zero drifts. Begin the zero adjustment by pressing
<Enter> key. Unload the scale when the displays shows [ZEro.CA] message and
press <Enter> key again. The display will show [WAıt ] message during zero
adjustment. In this while the scale must be unloaded and stable. Approximately 10
seconds later display will prompt you to save the calibration by [SAvE ] message.
You can confirm the saving zero adjustment by pressing <Enter> or cancel it by
pressing <F> key.

[311 ] Span Adjustment


This parameter lets you to perform span adjustment. By pressing <Enter> key
[ XXXXXX ] appears on the display. The value shown on the display is the weight
that should be used for span calibration. If the value of the test weights that will be
used is different from the value shown on the display, type the new value via
numerical keys, place the test weights on the scale and press <Enter>. Just like
zero calibration [WAıt ] message will shown on the display 10 seconds while span
calibration is being performed. Then indicator will prompt you to save the calibration
by [SAvE ] message. You can confirm the saving calibration by pressing <Enter> or
cancel it by pressing <F> key.

[32-] DLC Eccentricity Adjustment Block


In this parameter group the eccentricity correction is performed automatically or
manually. This adjustment must be performed automatically before calibration.
[320 X] Adjustment Method
Scale eccentricity can be adjusted in corners (DLC’s individually) or in sectional
pairs.
0 = Independent DLC 1 = Sectional pair

[321 ] Auto Adjustment


After entering the parameter 321 by pressing the <Trans> key, you will see
“Zero.CA” on the display. Unload the scale and press the enter key. Do not interfere
the scale during “ wait” message on the display in this parameter. Next BX 5D will
display [ 321 01] on the display. Place the weight of at least 10% of the DLC
capacity as close as possible to the independent load cell or sectional pair 01.
Than press the enter key. After some period [ 321 02] appears on the display.
Apply the same load on to the other places in sequence. After loading all load
cells/sections .the message [ 322 ] will seen on the display. This means the
eccentricity error correction is performed automatically.

[322 ] Manual Adjustment


If need be, eccentricity error can be reduced manually. You can change the error
correction coefficients of DLC’s in this parameter. For entering this parameter press
the <Trans> key. You can change the load cell number by enter key. For changing

the coefficient of the any DLC, select the number of DLC and press <Trans> key
to see and change the coefficient. Use numerical keys for changing the value and
then press enter key.
For exit this parameter press F key and save the improvement you applied by
pressing the enter key. F key is used to go out without saving the corrections you
made manually.

[323 X] Temporarily Set Shift Constants to 1


The parameter allows you to view the weighbridge’s performance as though no shift
adjustment had been made for service purposes. Using this function does not
change the actual shift adjust coefficients entered/calculated before; but all
coefficients are changed to value 1 temporarily.
0 = Normal operation (entered shift constants are used).
1 = Test mode (shift constants are equal to 1).

[8--] Metrological Data Block


The parameters about Metrologic Registry are being entered in this section.

[80-] Metrologic Records


In this block, change the parameters with  key and use enter key according to parameter
descriptions.

[800] Counter
This counter increases by 1 automatically after entering the programming mode
with calibration jumper and service password. This counter can not be changed
manually.
[803] Print All Alibi Memory Records
The data in the Alibi memory can be printed by pressing <Enter> key. You can stop
printing with <F> key.

[804] Alibi Info

You can get some fundamental information about Alibi board and records by
pressing <Reprint> key.

[9--] Diagnostics
The operations about checking and testing BX 5D can be made here.

[90-] Tests

[905 ] DLC Internal Count


Press Enter key to enter this parameter and message [905 1 ] seen. The
number of the load cell can be change by pressing up and down keys and internal
counts can be seen by pressing enter key.
Press F key to go out from this parameter.

12.1 Serial Interface
2 additional serial interfaces can be added to BX 5D in addition to standard RS232C
serial data output. One of the outputs of the optional serial interface card is RS232C, and
the other one can be selected as RS232C, RS485 or 20 mA CL ASCII. If parameter 012 is
selected as 2 ( hardware handshake ), the second data output can not be used as
RS232C. Up to 32 instruments can be connected with RS485 output.
The settings of interfaces is being made in serial port -2 ( par 01- ) and serial port-3
( par 02- ) parameter groups. The pin configuration is given below.

The RS485 interface termination can be done by short circuited pin 19 and 20 at the desk
and panel type enclosures or by jumper JP4 on the interface board in stainless steel
housing. These short circuits terminates the line with internal termination resistor 100 Ω .
The 20mA CL ASCII transmit output is passive in standard. The connections should be
made as given in the figure below for activating this transmit output (Active output is not
available for 12 VDC instruments).

Appendix 2:

Host Mode Data Structure


This interface is convenient for process control applications which are needed not only the
weight data, but also required some up loads / downloads and status control. If related
parameters are adjusted for host communication, BX 5D indicator will be connected to
your system in Host Mode. BX 5D supports “0x03” and “0x10” functions.

03 (0x03) Reading Holding Registers


This function code is being used to read the information in the register addresses which
have been permitted to be read in holding registers. The reading operation will be
performed by transmitting the information about the registry to be read as given in the
“request Table”. The indicator will evaluate the data that had been received and will
transmit the info in the format given in the “Reply Table” or “Error Table”.

instrument. However if there is an error occurs, do not attempt to repair the equipment
