Brainball - The Global Innovation!: Preface
Brainball - The Global Innovation!: Preface
1. Understanding BrainBall
The Game Piece Ring The Sphere
BrainBall is made up of 13 connected game pieces numbered from The BrainBall sphere is composed of three segments,
1 to 13. Together they form a ring that rotates around the BrainBall sphere. two exterior segments and one middle segment.
The exterior segments are connected tight and thus tilt in parallel.
2.2. Tilt
Seven game pieces are connected to the exterior sphere segments and can
be tilted 180° to reveal the opposite side of the given pieces (same number,
a different color). In the following example, the numbers 10, 11, 12, 13 (left

The logic game is unique in that it challenges the player to Numbers: no particular order Numbers: 1 and 2 in order Numbers: 1 - 3 in order
arrive at several different configurations, with each new level
becoming harder to achieve than the previous.
For example:
Level 1 (Easiest Challenge Level)
Position the same color of each game piece (white, for
example) on the same side of the ring without having Level 4 Colors: all yellow Level 5 Colors: all white Level 6 Colors: all yellow

Level 12 (Most Difficult Challenge Level) Level 7 Colors: all white Level 8 Colors: all yellow Level 9 Colors: all white
Numbers: 1-7 in order Numbers: 1-8 in order Numbers: 1-9 in order
All numbers of the same color (dark, for example) should be
arranged in order from 1 to 13.

given challenge level.

4 4. The Secret Strategic Combinations (SSCs)
What are Secret Strategic Combinations (SSCs)? Why are Secret Strategic Combinations important?
Secret Strategic Combinations (SSCs) modify the order and/or the color By implementing the right SSCs in the correct order, players
of certain game pieces without changing the remaining pieces. There are can more easily:
innumerable SSCs that can be combined together to solve BrainBall. Eight
SSCs are described in these instructions to help you to become a BrainBall
master. • arrive at the 12 Challenge Levels (see page 3)
There are two kinds of Secret Strategic Combinations. • complete the strategy game (see pages 7 and 8)
Color-SSCs • find success in BrainBall competitions (see page 8)
These modify the colors of specific game pieces without modifying the order
of the numbers of the thirteen pieces. Color SSCs are named after planets,
i.e. Venus-SSC. How does a Secret Strategic Combination work?

The Goal of BrainBall Competitions: specific game
• Players must first achieve the initial configuration (white game pieces with numbers 1-13 in order) pieces.
• The configuration goal must be selected.
• Players are to arrive at the configuration goal as quickly as possible. (We suggest using known SSCs.)
• Players can either time themselves against a stopwatch or simply see who is the first to arrive at the configuration goal.

The Task
Find the solution with the least moves from the shown IC to the CG.
