CHINESE LITERATURE

Based on the discussion yesterday in 21st Century, in our society and in the lives of all
individuals, Chinese literature plays an important role. They have made many significant
contributions to the development of our country. It has an endless field whose effect to extends far
beyond people's knowledge and one's own personal understanding. Chinese literature has a huge
subject with thousands of years of history. One of the most amazing characteristics of Chinese
literature is that much of the serious literature was written in Classical Chinese, they use this as
their formal written language. And I recently found out in the discussion that epic poetry is not
included in Chinese literature because they focus on everyday events, as Sir Froy stated. He
added that The Book of Songs, is the world's oldest selection of poetry and the richest treasure of
traditional songs remaining from antiquity, which is a collection of 305 poems, and The Chang
Zu, one of Taoism's fundamental texts, which has had a profound influence on Chinese thought
and literature. It's also a collection of texts that dates back to the second century BCE.

The next work is The Records of the Historian, which is a well-known historical work in
Chinese literature. It was composed in Classical Chinese by Sima Qian, who is a symbol of
heroism in Chinese culture, as I mentioned earlier, Classical Chinese is their formal written
language. Another work of Chinese literature is The Journey to the West, a story about a
Buddhist master's journey to India in discovery of holy scriptures. The writings of Lu Xun, who
published two volumes of stories in 1923 and 1926, are included in Modern Chinese literature. Lu
Xun is a well-known Chinese novelist from the 1930s who wrote the Camel Xiangzi in 1937, which
depicts the deterioration of a rickshaw man. Asian literature, particularly Chinese literature, is so
rich and has such a long history, Chinese literature has many successful pieces. Chinese literature
evolves over dynasties, and figures such as Confucius have had a significant influence on the
country's literature. Confucius is a well-known Chinese teacher, philosopher, and political
theorist whose views have significantly affected Chinese and other East Asian civilizations.

In conclusion, Chinese literature has its own set of values and preferences, as well as a
modern cultural history and critical thought. It can be divided into four major periods,
chronologically this are the classical, modern, contemporary, and present-age literature. Based on
what I have red, Classical literature dates from three thousand years ago to the late Qing Dynasty
in 1644 to 1911, and is a virtually unbroken strand that has survived dynastic transitions. Despite
the fact that China was in the midst of a turbulent and complicated period, contemporary
literature spanned the period from 1919 to the founding of modern in 1949 and took on a new
strength. This period was notable because it saw the creation of a new and revised literary
language, form, content, and abilities, allowing it to develop into a self-contained and open art
form accessible to all people of our society. Since the foundation of the People's Republic in 1949,
Modern and Present-Age Literature has evolved. During this time, there was a history due to the
Cultural Revolution, which lasted about ten years. That era has passed, and we now find
ourselves in a more fortunate situation, with a great number of responsible writers contributing
to the growth of literary forms and content.
