What are the differences between Social, Competitive, and Exhibition
ballrooms? Social Ballroom focuses on sociability and socializing, it portrays the ballroom with the spontaneity of the steps happens because we want our partner to have fun. It conveys dance to straight-beat and it is non- competitive version of ballroom. The Competitive Ballroom is the dance contains of couples and are judged on their speed, elegance, body action and dramatic movements. And the judges watch to see the details of the steps, looking for correctness, accuracy, and preciseness. It emphasizes on performance and appearance as they compete with other couples. Lastly, the Exhibition Ballroom includes lots of non-standard choreography including lifts. They use movements and lines of a theatrical nature and this performed to entertain the audience and to gain their appreciation. The performers are graded and awards given based on ranking.
