A. Imagine yourself as an archeologist in an excavation site in France or Spain. You come across a hole and upon
further examination, the hole leads to a cave that has inscribed paintings on it. What images do you see? Think
about the scenario and draw the images of figures that pop in your head. (at least 5 drawings) (25 points)

 The magnificent prehistoric art discovered in caves throughout France and Spain raises many questions
about early human culture

B. What was the importance and significance of art during the prehistoric period? (10 points)

 Prehistoric art shows the everyday lives of early human beings. It was the basis and pattern of life during
their ages. For example, many of the images painted on the walls of the cave were of various animals, such
as horses, bison, hyenas, wolves and deer. Cave art is significant because it was what people in prehistoric
times did in order to record history and culture. But prehistoric cave art was also significant because it also
served as a warning to people who were to come later. For example, they could show the way to kill a
beast or warn them of a beast.

C. How can the artworks from the past help people in present times understand the context of those in the past? (10
points)

 It is indeed important for us knowing and studying the history of Filipino art in understanding contemporary
art, because the history provides us the essential information, on how different art forms, developed and
changed overtime, to become another kind of art from the past holds clues to life in the past. By looking at
a work of art's symbolism, colors, and materials, we can learn about the culture that produced it. We also
can compare artwork, which provides different perspectives, and gives us a well-rounded way of looking at
events, situations, and people.

D. In what ways can there be a merging of art and religion? (10 points)
 Integration of paintings and sculptures in religious places. Architecture on the development of place of
worship (churches, mosque, etc.) Paintings and sculptures are the common accessories inside a church.
Paintings can be found on the ceiling or windows while sculptures are on the statues and pillars or chairs.
Majestic religious buildings are built through architecture.

E. What was the importance and significance of art during the prehistoric period? (15 points)
