accreditation process and the total number of voters accredited can be previewed

3.1.2. Operating the Smart Card Reader for Voter Authentication

Voter Authentication: is the process of verifying the person that registered to vote is

the same person that is at the polling station to cast his vote. This process takes

place during the accreditation of voters on Election Day.

INEC Voter Authentication System (IVAS): it is a device which is specifically

designed for the electronic authentication of voters on polling Day. It adopts the

Dual Core Cortex - A7 CPU ARM ultra-low power consumption and it has a single

core frequency of 1.2GHz and an Android 4.2.2 operating system. The IVAS

supports both touch and keyboard inputs. It configured to read contactless card and

output same on LCD screen and it protect data by supporting the SAM

Card.

The Secure Access Module (SAM) Card: is used to enhance the security and

cryptography performance on the device. It is used commonly in devices that need
