Arcade history (Foundation of gaming)

Limitation:
The biggest limitation is of course is that the arcade machines
were only designed for a certain purpose and could not be sued
to do anything else other then play he game that it was made
for and also you have to visit the arcade closest to you and pay
Arcade history to play the games meaning that you could really have a arcade
machine in your home unless if you were rich.
Specs:
CPU: Multiple CPUs specialised for the certain game
Resolution/graphics: Specialised GPUs that outputted vector
graphic with 50 to 60 Hz
Storage: Only one game available on one certain arcade machine
Price: Coin operated which are different prices for different
games
The birth of gaming was with the arcades which quickly took over
every town, city and country with great games such as Pac man
which up to 1990 had grossed in around 3 billion dollars and had
kicked off the age of gaming.
Atari history (Foundation of gaming)

Limitation:
The biggest limitation of this console at the time was that the
console was really expensive and also comparing it with todays
consoles and prices this was a total rip off in my opinion as to-
days consoles are more powerful and a lot more cheaper.
Atari history
Specs:
CPU: an 8 bit MOS Technology 1.19MHZ
Resolution/graphics: Specialised GPUs that outputted vector
graphic with 50 to 60 Hz
Storage: 128 bytes RAM
Price: $200 which in todays money is around $830
This was one the first consoles that was released that was actually
some what successful even with its huge price it managed to sell
3o million units which told the industry that people are willing to
pay a lot just to have a way of playing games in their own home
which then kicked off the age of gaming consoles being released
by many different companies.
TV gaming history (Foundation of gaming)

Limitation:
The biggest limitation of playing games that are installed on
your TV is that firstly, the controller will be the TV remote
which is really clunky and hard to play with and also there is a
limited type of games you can play for example games such as
TV history snake and simple gams that will not need a powerful processor
as the processor within the TV will not be too powerful.
There is too many TVs in the market currently to be able to put a
specific specs but the general features that the TVs have are that
they have to be either connected to a satellite and or a street ca-
ble to allow it to be used and get channels on it. Moreover, the
games when TVs first allowed games were like snake and the
pong game
The games that are played on modern TVs are basically the same
in the simplicity but looks much better due to OLED technology
which allowed ultra HD. AN example of a powerful modern TV is
LG OLED55B8PLA 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR OLED TV as the fea-
tures that come with it are voice control, 3840 x 2160 resolution
and also it is also Dolby.
Phone gaming history (Foundation of gaming)

Limitation:
Hagenuk MT-2000– however the biggest limitation of this
phone was that it was really hard to play the game on due to
the small screen and the small buttons.
iPhone X– however, the biggest draw back of getting a iPhone

play on and it is also the device that the great snake was born on
and it quickly became a success withy their target audience.
iPhone X– the current generation of phones are of course
smartphones for iPhone mainly the iPhone specs are:
CPU-2.39 GHz
Storage-64GB
Which already destroy the Hagenuk as there is also a lot more
variety and many more games you can get for your iPhone X and
also you can get more complex games such as clash of clans.
PC history (Foundation of gaming)

Limitation:
However not everything is perfect with PCs as on PC due to the us-
ers having more control there is a lot more hackers/Modder's with-
in games which every gamer will tell you is the most frustrating ex-
perience you can have when playing a game.
Also for all the hardcore gamers it can be quite difficult to start
playing and become good as the starting skill level for players is a
lot higher then to console gaming as using a keyboard can be hard-
er to start playing on then a controller.
Another limitation would be that you must get different launchers
PC history
to be able to different games and sometimes just are annoying as
Specs: there is a lot of launchers you need to have for different games
There can be no specific spec as everyone has different PCs with meaning there is a lot you need to install.
different specs that can still run and play games with.

PC was the reason that arcades were invented as every game that
was on the arcade machine started on PCs and the Arcades are
just a PC emulation.
However, the most powerful specs for gaming nowadays are only
with PCs as todays console don’t let you change and upgrade
parts of the console while PCs let you easily change and upgrade
any part of it meaning that the best way to get gaming experience
and graphics is on PC which as a console gamer myself is sad as
PC is truly the greatest for gaming.
Nintendo’s major console history

Nintendo 1983 limitation:

At the time the console was of course cutting edge for a console
but of course the specs quickly became obsolete as a new tech-
nology such as a better ROM and storage.

Other limitation consisted of the console quickly gathering dust

especially the disks used for it as the disk had no covers meaning
that the disks could quickly get ruined which was one of the main
reasons that the console was discontinued.
Nintendo 1983
Specs:
CPU:8-bit(1.79MHz)
RAM:2KB
Resolution:256x240 pixels
Storage: pre-installed games
Price:£136.97
This was introduced to the western market in 1985 where the
overall amount of console sold were around 62 million which
gave it its iconic status as there was not much hope of the console
doing well but it the western market loved the console due to the
great games that came with it. An example of one the games is
Zelda which we all know took the world over and became one of
the greatest game to exist to this date.

Nintendo DS lite 2004 limitations:

The biggest and most visible limitation for this masterpiece would be the
screen size as it really handicapped what type of games the users could
play as if you want to play a competitive game such as Call of duty then it
would be hard and unsatisfying like the WII as you will not be able to
have the full experience of the game.
The DS also had some memory limitations that would stop delete

memory when the DS was turned off.
Specs:
CPU: 2 ARM processors a ARM946E (main) and ARM7TDMI (secondary)
RAM:4MB

Resolution:256x192
Storage: 256KB
Price: £99.99
This was one of the first handheld (portable) consoles to be introduced
that was a success within the gaming market as it hit a huge unit sales of
154 million which was a massive shock to the gaming world as it was
joked about at first but quickly became the highest sold console of any
kind and this could be because of the revolutionary touch screen at the
time. We again forget about the great games that could be seen as the
real reason of why Nintendo DS did so well. these games were New super
Mario bros and Pokémon diamond and pearl which you could play any-
where you wanted to play!!

Nintendo WII limitation:

The biggest limitation that WII users faced was that the console
was really not designed for FPS games as the control felt weird
and hard to use compared to the Xbox and PlayStation control-
lers.
Nintendo WII
Moreover, the only game that could be played without it being a

play which meant that the only reason that anyone would play

the WII would be for WII sport.
RAM:88MB

Storage:512MB
Price:£179.99
The titans of consoles is without a doubt the WII due to its fun
and new approach to gaming and interactivity between the user
and the console through a camera linked to the console that will
read your body movement which went great with one of the
greatest games ever….WII sports.
This is a dynamic du which allow you to do sports in your living
room because who can be bothered going out.

limitation:
The biggest issue any one can tell you about the original Xbox
was that the disks kept getting scratched and making the disk
unplayable and also the clock capacitors would often break

troller which really meant that most people could get this

console just because they couldn't sue the controller.
Storage:8GB HDD
Price: $299
One of the timeless classics without a doubt is the original Xbox.
Even as a PlayStation fan I admit that this console was great, the
nostalgia linked with the console and Simpsons hit and run was
too good to let my hate of Xbox get in the way of playing on this
great console and finally the Xbox was the first console to have a
hard drive whih meant the users didn't need to keep getting more
memory sticks. However, the unit sold of 24 million can lie to you
as at time the titan of consoles PlayStation 2had took over the
console market with 158 million sold worldwide.
Microsoft’s major console history

limitation:
The biggest issue that the Xbox 360 had was with both the player
base and developing companies as they did not like the subscrip-

Storage: 250 GB or 320GB for Xbox 360 s
Price: $399
This is where the great console wars began as this was the first
time that the console player base was truly separated and the
Xbox had become notables. The Xbox 360 had sold around 84 mil-
lion units by June 2014 while PS3 had sold 83.9 million which
meant that Microsoft had finally knocked the kings of consoles of
their throne. The sales were mostly complimented by the great
features such as party systems where it meant that you could talk
to your finds without having to play the same game and have an in
game party

limitation:
A massive limitation Xbox and general consoles has is that they
are limited by the spec and the users cannot just upgrade the
spec when a better processor comes out and they will need to
wait for the next console to get an upgrade.
Xbox 1
Moreover, another limitation would be that the frames per

RAM: 8GB

Resolution/graphics:853GHz

Price: $499
One of the powerful consoles is without a doubt the Xbox 1
and a great feature this console has is that it supports back-
ward compatibility which means for any of the users who want
some nostalgia by playing old games such as modern warfare 2
or in other words the greatest first person shooter ever.
Comparison

Xbox 1 vs WII
Overall hardware wise Xbox 1 easily beats the WII as it has the
better processor, graphics and storage however, the WII does not
require powerful hardware's as the games that are designed for it
are usually are not hard to run due to the graphics of the game.
Moreover, the WII is terrible for FPS games but great for specialized
games as well they are specialised games for the WII meaning that
it is not flexible with games dye to the controller.
Finally, the Xbox 1 also has cross play meaning on some of the more
popular games the people on Xbox can play with PC and or
PlayStation however, don’t worry about all the Xbox players not
wanting to play against PC players you will not be forced you have
to be invited or choose to play against PC players.

limitation:
The biggest problem with the PS1 was that the games refresh rate
were low and 9 out of the 20 classic games had 50Hz com pared
to other classic games the refresh rate was terrible.

PS1
Specs:
CPU:32-bit RISC
RAM:2 MB

Resolution/graphics:32-bit

Price: $399
This was arguably the greatest console ever due to the nostalgia
of anyone who played it. It sold 102.49 million units around the
world basically making it the most popular and the king of the
console. This is where the era of sony’s dominance of the console
market started
Sony’s major console history

limitation:
There was a massive problem with backward compatibility to ps1
as there was a lot of games that would not work on the ps2 and
would crash consistently.

PS2 Moreover, the PS2 had no connectivity to internet meaning there

was no multiplayer on the games making the playability of the

CPU:MIPS III R5900-based
RAM:32 MB

Resolution/graphics:150 MHz
Storage:40 GB hard drive
Price: $299
This was another massive success and also a instant classic and
overcame its predecessor by 155 million but am guessing this was
hugely boosted by great games such as grand theft auto san an-
dreas. Moreover, there was many more games within the library
of the PS2 and this was great as it was supported by a user friend-
ly interface.
Sony’s major console history

limitation:
One of the more noticeable limitations of the PSP is the size of
the screen that is on the PSP as this means that the games that
you are going go to be playing will not be able to give you the full
experience.
PSP
Moreover, the overall size of the console could be an issue for

CPU:333 MHz the console was not designed for users with big hands.

RAM:2 MB

Storage:16GB

This was a massive success for Sony as it sold over 82 million
around the world and made them competitors of Nintendo. The
PSP was a huge success due to the features of the users being
able to use the PSP to store pictures, music and also all w the us-
ers to be able to browse the internet.
Sony’s major console history

limitation:
Well the biggest problem with PS3 was of course the massive
hack that happened to the PSN which basically stopped all the
users being able to access online for a couple of months.

PS3 Another huge limitation it had was it did not have a pry system
which meant you had to play the same game with your friend to

RAM: 256 MB

Storage:60 GB but upgradable
Price: $599
This was a good console but is safe to say that more people pre-
ferred Xbox 360 as ps3 only sold 80 million while Xbox sold 4 mil-
lion more. This could be due to the amount of exclusives that
Xbox 360 had and also the party system that was great for talking
to your friends. However, PlayStation had some great features
such as free online, some classical exclusive such as god of war
and also supported 1080p.
Sony’s major console history

limitation:
The biggest limitation was when PS4 was first released as some
games would crash after a while of playing which quickly became
PS4 irritating because you could be in an intense mission and the
game would crash out of no where.
Specs:
Another huge issue with the PS4 was the storage was quite small
CPU:8-core 1.6 GHz CPU for the games being released meaning that you are forced to ei-
RAM:8 GB ther delete the games and install the game you want to play or
get more storage.
Resolution/graphics:
Storage: 500 GB
Price: £349
This was a huge success for Sony as this is the console that put Sony back on
of having the best console and games. PS4 sold 91 million around the world
due to great games such God of war, Detroit become human and also Horizon
zero dawn which without a doubt was some of the greatest games I've
played, and they are all exclusives. On release PS$ was also the strongest con-
sole which a great price tag.
Moreover, Sony finally added a party system also but they made it so you
have pay for online but we get bunch of games for people who have payed for
online.
