The president’s daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio announced her COC withdrawal on

November 9 as reelected Davao City Mayor in the 2022 elections.
Sara confirmed that her younger brother; Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte will
be running for mayor in her position.
"Ngayong hapon wini-withdraw ko ang akong kandidatura sa pagka-mayor ng Davao
City. Si VM Baste ang papalit sa akin. Si Atty. Melchor Quitain ang nominado namin sa
pagka-Bise Alkalde. Ito lamang po muna. Maraming salamat po,” she said on her
Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Duterte has withdrawn his COC and nominated Atty. Melchor
Quitain Jr. as his substitute.
Sarah Duterte was not keen on running for president. She has consistently topped the
pre-election survey on presidential preferences for 2022 elections.
She previously said that she will not be asking a national post in the 2022 pulse despite
persistent calls from her supporters and other political groups to run for presidency.
Sara met with at least two presidential aspirants, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos and
Sen. Bato dela Rosa and discussed how her political party can help with their
presidential candidacy.
Politicians are still allowed to substitute a member who filed a certificate of candidacy
until November 15, under the Commission on Elections.
