UMYU MANAGEMENT MOVES TO REOPEN
SCHOOL
As part of the efforts towards safe reopening
of government owned and private tertiary
institutions for the resumption of academic
activities in Katsina State, a one day
sensitization workshop was held for all the
stake holders in the education sector.
He noted that the total adherence to the
COVID-19 protocols will help to ensure that
the academic environment remain safe for
the students, the staff and the visitors in
carrying out their activities properly.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION SENSITISES
UMYU STAFF ON PROTOCOLS OF CLAIMING
RETIREMENT BENEFITS.

Katsina State Civil Service Commission, CSC,
has observed that some civil servants on
transfer of service to Federal Establishments
or other organizations have been tendering
their notices of retirement from service to the
Commission to claim their retirement
benefits.
In a letter sent to the UMYU Management,
the CSC draws the attention of all the
University staff that the practice contravenes
the provision No. ED.18/1977 which was
conveyed via circular No. S/GEN/149/100 with
the heading of “payment of retirement
benefits to employees with mixed service”
which states that:
“ An officer on transfer of service would
claim his/her retirement benefits from the
organization he/she left only when he/she
finally retires from the service either by years
of service (35) or by age (65 or 70 years) as
the case may be, after which the benefit
would be computed and paid accordingly”.
The statement further encouraged all staff to
take note and comply accordingly.
