MOHAMMAD SAYUTI BIN AZMI

Mohammad Sayuti Azmi is an ‘HR engineer’ who uses analytical storytelling and
experience sharing to help people think, relate, discover and improve.

He is a mechanical engineering graduate from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

(UTP) with over 13 years of broad and multifaceted experiences in the oil and gas
industry, having worked in both upstream and downstream businesses of
PETRONAS, from industrial plant with localized operational settings at Gurun,
Kertih, Paka and Gebeng as well as within a multinational corporate office
environment of the Twin Towers, KLCC.

His passion with MS Excel began when he was the Health, Safety, Environment &
Quality (HSEQ) Training Coordinator for PETRONAS Gas Bhd’s (PGB) Plant
Operations Division back in 2008. In order to effectively execute his role, Sayuti
developed an interactive database system using MS Excel to record and monitor the
training plan, attendance and compliancy against the HSEQ training matrix for over
1200 personnel from various levels and functions of the organization. The system
was effective enough that other divisions of PGB adopted it, before the Company
migrated to an online solution developed using the template Sayuti created.

Sayuti’s experiences and skills in MS Excel were further developed when he took
the role of Focal Person cum Expert User of PETRONAS Maintenance Management
System (PMMS) for the Maintenance Department of one of PGB’s Gas Processing
Plant, circa 2011. In this role, he used MS Excel with SAP ECC6, an integrated
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system software to analyze the plant’s assets
maintenance performance and reliability data and records. This was when he
learned to code using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), creating macros to speed
up data analysis and reporting.

In his own free time, Sayuti began exploring deeper into VBA scripting and
discovered ways to make MS Excel interact with other Window-based applications,
particularly the SAP GUI.

He left PETRONAS at the end of 2016 due to family and personal issues.

Sayuti went on to do freelancing and consulting jobs before he was contracted back
by PGB in 2019 to lead a team to review and improve the Bill of Materials’ (BOM)
database of two PGB’s utilities plants. This is when he developed his first user-
oriented MS Excel Add-in to interact with SAP GUI.

Besides MS Excel and SAP learning courses, Sayuti has also conducted internal
leadership learning programs for PETRONAS, motivational talks to school’s students
and facilitated a market research workshop for a GLC client.

Among the programs he has facilitated are; Workflow and Business Process
Improvement Workshop, New Executive Orientation Program, Foundational
Behavior Program, Teambuilding Activities, Employee Engagement Sessions, KPI
Setting and Performance Management Workshops.

In summary, Sayuti can facilitate client to increase business operational efficiency

through work process improvement and task automation using MS Excel as a tool.
He can also facilitate programs and workshop for client to improve workplace
communication, employee relation and team collaboration.
