must be in place when the equipment is operated.
During installation and maintenance, protective shields may be temporarily removed. Use
suitable insulated tools and appropriate protective clothing. Handle fuses only with tools
provided for this purpose, for example, load-break switch handles.
Adequate insulation from ground potential (earth) must be provided when working on the
equipment.
Localized areas of high temperature (> 70 °C) may occur within the
rectifier/inverter/distributor rack. Take precautions against accidental burns.
Devices, such as rectifiers and environmental control for cabinets contain fans. These may
also continue to rotate for some time after the power has been removed.
The weight of the equipment requires suitable safety considerations. Additional personnel or
lifting equipment may be needed. Where required, the weight of equipment is stated on the
front of the unit.
Equipment racks may have sharp edges. We recommend you to wear gloves.
Caution! Do not restrict air flow. Fit blank panels for empty rectifier slots to ensure
correct air circulation inside the cabinet.
Additional warnings, cautions and notes specific to certain equipment and/or conditions are
described in the context of the relevant instructions.
Always use gas evacuation kit for batteries in outdoor application. Suitable type of battery
and gas evacuation kit should be provided by battery manufacturer.
The OUTD 1.6VA AC 0.5 [MBL] cabinet is cooled with air conditioner which is mounted on
the door. In case of supply failure or air conditioner failure, cabinet is cooled with fan which is
situated under the air conditioner. Fan is controlled by thermal switch. Additionally there is
smoke alarm device located on upper-right side of cabinet.

During supply failure or air conditioner failure, cabinet is cooled with fan which is controlled
by thermal switch.
This is a summary of the standard climate control settings with different climate control
options.
Air Ventilation (AV) is the simplest cooling system. It is often used as a basic cooling system
for outdoor application in a non-critical temperature climate environment.
This type of cooling is used in the cabinet only during the mains failure or air conditioner
failure.
With AV systems the cabinet is equipped with a set of Delta fan installed on the door. It
ensures appropriate airflow for cooling the batteries inside. The fresh air is sucked in through
the inlet holes in the front door and the air then passes through an air filter installed in the
internal door surface and passes into the cabinet interior. Finally, after heating up by internal
equipment the air is pushed out via fan.

Air conditioner is controlled by an air conditioner’s internal controller. When the temperature
inside the cabinet increases above 28 °C, air conditioner starts operation and cooling until
temperature decreases below 28 °C.

This signal is transferred to the ORION controller (via digital alarm input) and it is signalled
by controller alarm LEDs and presented on the display according to the configuration.
Fan alarm is connected to external alarm terminal XS via relay K1 according to the alarm
configuration.
Step 2 Also ensure that grounding terminals, DC and AC distributions are properly
available.
Step 3 Take care that the regulations of IEC 60364 and CENELEC HD384 concerning
installation and assembling of telecommunication and electrical equipment have
been noticed. The local regulations and special instructions must also be noticed
during the work. When choosing the place of the installation, please notice that the
cooling air must flow without restrictions through the ventilation holes. The system
must have enough space in front of it for operation and service functions. Notice the
direction of the cabling and the required space of the other equipment.
Step 2 Ensure that the rack and the equipment are not damaged during transportation.
4.3 Installation
Step 2 Remove 4 plastic plugs from the roof and screw lifting eyes into empty holes.
Step 3 Connect hang lines (length: minimum 1000 mm) to the four lifting eyes installed on
the top of the cabinet and lift the cabinet into position by crane.
Step 4 Set the system cabinet down, standing it in place and straighten it, if necessary,
using aluminium or stainless steel pads.
Step 5 Bolt the cabinet to the ground using four bolts (M10/50mm). It is necessary to
remove the plinth side covers to get access to the plinth mounting holes if there is no
access from the bottom of the plinth base.
Step 6 Unscrew the lifting eyes and install back plastic plugs.
4.3.2 Cabling
Note! The input/output cables can be inserted into the cabinet from the bottom
through the input sleeve packing in the cabinet plinth. In any case, sufficient cable
length has to be ensured to make the connections inside the cabinet.
All necessary groundings are connected to the PE grounding bar like it is shown in picture
below. Unconnected clamps can be used for customer purposes.
PE grounding bar
The AC input terminals are located on the middle right side of internal wall of the cabinet.
The system in its standard version is prepared to be supplied via one phase (L, N, PE).
Step 1 Connect the AC line cables to the AC input terminals – PE cable to the PE terminal,
N cable to the neutral terminal (blue) and phase cable (L) to the phase terminal
(grey).
Note! Use the wiring diagram supplied with the installation documentation to ensure
the AC power supply has been correctly connected.
*) Values are according to IEC 60950. Local installation regulations may however require
increased sizes depending on maximum ambient temperature and cable routing method.
Step 2 Connect the positive cable to the free plus-pole and the negative cable to the free
negative pole of the battery string.
Step 3 Place the battery temperature sensor between the batteries in the battery area.
Fasten the sensor cable to the cabinet cable supports.
4.3.2.5 DC connection

Step 1 Turn to the right the knob of the thermal switch TS1 to 60 °C – after that the fan
should start.
Step 2 After the test, set the thermal switch TS1 to the standard setting 45 °C.
Step 1 Heat up the temperature inside the cabinet to start the air conditioner working when
the temperature is above 35 °C.
Step 2 To test turning OFF the air conditioner, you can also freeze the temperature inside
the cabinet using a special aerosol (compressed air).
Note! In areas with increased level of air pollution it is recommended to replace the
air filter more frequently.
Step 2 Remove the connector from the cable of the fan that is being replaced. Before taking
off the connector, write down the correct wire sequence.
Step 3 Remove the fan by unscrewing the 4 screws (two on each side).
Step 4 Connect the wires to the connector that was removed from the previous one. Pay
attention to the correct wire sequence.
Step 5 Connect the fan connector into the slot where it was connected before. Organize the
wires with cable ties.
Step 8 Check that the fan is working (look at the point 5.1 "Testing the air ventilation
system").
