Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for all that you have done in quickly pivoting
once again and creating mini-classrooms within your homes. I know that this continues to be
a difficult time for everyone and yet, I am so proud of all the Father Henri Nouwen staff and
students who have been able to create engaging virtual classrooms once again. They are
amazing!

Thank you for ensuring that your child is in their virtual classrooms no later than 8:30 am.
FDK Remote classes initiated in September will continue to join their classes at 9:00 am. This
greatly assists us in taking attendance and starting our day as a school community in prayer
as faith will continue to sustain us.

Chromebooks:
Due to the support of our parent community and the board, Father Henri Nouwen has been
very fortunate to have a good stock of chromebooks for our students to use both at school
and at home during periods of Remote Learning. This past week we have lent out over 35
chromebooks to students who did not have access to a computer at home.

Unfortunately, over the past months, a number of Chromebooks have been returned to
school damaged and unrepairable. Parents are respectfully asked to ensure that the school
chromebooks are only used for school related purposes. Kindly remind your children to
handle school computers with the same care that you would expect them to use for items
purchased for your family. With limited capabilities to fundraise, we do not have the same
capabilities to replace these chromebooks as we did in the past, nor should we have too in
such numbers. A little bit of extra care will ensure that all of our students can engage in their
learning, both at school and at home.

PA Day:
I would also like to remind parents that Friday January 14, 2022 is a PA Day and therefore
there will be no school for our students next Friday.

Gracious God, in the busy-ness of my day, I sometimes forget to stop to thank you for all that
is good in my life.
My blessings are many and my heart is filled with gratitude for the gift of living, for the
ability to love and be loved, for the opportunity to see the everyday wonders of creation, for
sleep and water, for a mind that thinks and a body that feels.
I thank you, too, for those things in my life that are less than I would hope them to be. Things
that seem challenging, unfair, or difficult. When my heart feels stretched and empty, and
pools of tears form in my weary eyes, still I rejoice that you are as near to me as my next
breath and that in the midst of turbulence, I am growing and learning.
In the silence of my soul, I thank you most of all for your unconditional and eternal love.
