AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM SHUTOFF AND FLOW REGULATOR VALVE — INSPECTION / CHECK
1. Air Conditioning Shutoff Valve Filter — Inspection
A. Preparation
REPLACEMENT PARTS

Each kit consists of:
O-ring ............................................................................................................................ S8990-013 (1)
NOTE: The following part is not included in GSK kit. Order separately as required.
Filter ................................................................................................................................. 111790-5 (1)
B. Procedure
(1) Removal (See Figure 601.)
(a) Remove plug (1), washer (2), O-ring (3), spring (4), washers (5, 6), filter (7), washer (8)
and retainer (9).
(b) Inspect and clean filter or replace with new filter, see Step 1.B.(2).
NOTE: Comparing low relative cost of filter with cost of manhours involved in cleaning
and testing, it is suggested that filter is changed at each inspection interval.
CAUTION: ENSURE THAT FILTER (7) IS INSTALLED WITH CAPPED END TOWARD
PLUG, OTHERWISE NO CONTROL AIR CAN ENTER VALVE.
(2) Clean filter in accordance with AlliedSignal Maintenance Manual procedures.
(3) Filter Testing
(a) Install filter in test setup similar to that shown in Figure 602 and constructed as follows:
1 Using ¼ inch metal tubing, install regulator in line with two AN815-4 nipples.
2 Install two gages with AN824-4 tees.
3 Make orifice from AN815-4 union plugged to a depth of 1/8 inch and drilled 0.042
inch through.
4 Connect filter to line with quick-coupler (Type 637, Superior Valve and Fitting Co.,
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).
5 Use filtered compressed air at 80°F ±40°F.
(b) Adjust regulator to apply inlet air pressure of 20 psig at inlet air pressure gage.
(c) Discard filter if pressure indicated on the downstream air pressure gage exceeds 3.5 psig.
(4) Filter Installation See Figure 601.
(a) Ensure that old filter has been cleaned and tested per procedures specified in Steps
1.B.(2) and 1.B.(3) above or that new filter is to be installed.
(b) Ensure O-ring (3) is replaced regardless of condition.
(c) Replace worn washers and spring as required.
(d) Check plug for galling and cross threading.

CAUTION: ENSURE THAT FILTER (7) IS INSTALLED WITH CAPPED END TOWARD
PLUG, OTHERWISE NO CONTROL AIR CAN ENTER VALVE.
(e) Replace retainer (9), washer (8), filter (7), washers (5, 6), spring (4), new O-ring (3),
washer (2) and plug (1).
(f) Perform leak check.
(g) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current Federal Aviation Regulations.
