Verification Status
1. This Component Maintenance Manual uses (Maintenance Task Oriented Support System)
MTOSS to organize the maintenance information. It is organized by maintenance tasks and
subtasks, graphics and tables. Each task consists of one or more subtasks. Each subtask
contains procedural steps and can contain one or more graphics or tables.

F. Sequence Number
(1) The sequence number is used to uniquely identify the task, subtask, graphic or table.
The combination of the function code and sequence number is unique within this
manual.
(2) Sequence numbers 801 thru 999 are reserved for task identification. Subtasks use 001
thru 800. Tables and graphics can use 001 thru 999 since they have function codes that
identify as tables and graphics.
(1) The configuration letter and variation number are shown together at the end of the
MTOSS code (e.g. “A00” in “Task 21-53-01-99F-801-A00”).
Page Intro-6
21-72-04 Sep 15/02
Component Maintenance Manual
810213
(2) It will normally default to “A00”. The “A” indicates that this is the first pageblock (e.g.
CLEANING) that is issued. If there were another CLEANING pageblock, it would have
“B01” as a configuration letter/variation number. The “00” indicates that this is the first
variation of the procedure. This number is there to accommodate different variations of
the procedure based on airline needs.
1. Parts of this Component Maintenance Manual refer to Standard Practices Manual M2001. It has
common maintenance practices for this type of equipment.
1. We welcome suggestions on how we can improve our documentation. Your comments and
suggestions will be analyzed by our Technical Publications, Technical Service and Engineering
departments, as applicable.
2. Please contact your Hamilton Sundstrand Field Service Representative to notify us of problems
that you find in this manual. They will enter your issues into a system that will assure that they
are addressed by the appropriate personnel within Hamilton Sundstrand. This process will
determine how your comments or suggestions will be added to future manual revisions.
1. Scope
A. This publication describes processes that may require the use of chemicals, solvents, paints,
or other materials that can affect a person’s health or safety. It may also cover high energy
procedures that can affect a person’s health or safety. Warnings are placed just ahead of
these procedures to bring attention to the existence of a procedure or material that is
dangerous.
2. Significance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and How to Obtain MSDS
A. Refer to the materials list at the beginning of each section of this manual for materials used
in the maintenance of the covered equipment.
B. If you do not have a copy of the manufacturer’s MSDS for the materials covered in the
materials list, contact the manufacturer and request that a MSDS be supplied before you use
the material.

3. Purpose
A. The warnings bring your attention to the existence of a procedure that can affect a person’s
health or safety.
B. Short warnings are provided in this maintenance publication to alert operating and
maintenance personnel to potential hazards that could result in personal injury or health
hazards. The warnings do not replace the manufacturer's recommendations. When there is
a reference to the Warnings Registry 341-006, that publication will provide more information
about the dangers of the material. The information contained in the Warnings Registry is a
summary of the manufacturer’s MSDS. The long warnings provide three principle parts of
safety: (1) a listing of the known dangers, (2) what is needed to do to protect you from the
dangers, and (3) what to do if the dangers occur.
C. The detailed warnings in Warnings Registry 341-006 are a summary of the manufacturer’s
MSDS and are not intended to replace the material on the sheet, but are intended to
supplement them.
D. Cautions are provided in the maintenance publication or service bulletin to alert operating
and maintenance personnel to conditions that could result in equipment damage.
A. Flammable: a material that can catch fire easily and can be explosive. These materials are
labeled according to the flash point of the material.
B. Flash Point: the lowest temperature at which a flammable liquid gives off fumes that can
burn.
(1) Flames: materials that are burning such as lit matches, propane torches, or pilot lights.
(2) Sparks: materials such as lighted cigarettes, electrical motors, or static electricity.
(3) Heat: any source of energy that will raise the temperature of a flammable material to its
flash point and could include hot parts, heated tools, or direct sunlight.
D. Corrosive: acidic or alkaline material that will remove human tissue or create chemical
reactions with other materials.
F. Reactive: material that will make fumes, burn, or can be explosive when mixed with certain
other materials.
G. Shock (Electrical): the result of any source of electricity more than 50 volts that causes
current to flow through a person and can result in dangerous burns to human tissues or
death.
H. Exposure: contact with the material or physical process without protection. Contact may be
by the eyes, breathing, touch, skin absorption, or swallowing.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
00
1. Spray nozzles PN 810213-1 and PN 810213-2 are included in this manual. Their specific aircraft
applications are identified below.
1. The fog nozzle has a pintle, an orifice, a stainless steel nozzle and a threaded inlet.
2. The fog nozzle is installed into a machined cast adapter with a threaded insert. The extended
port of the (cast adapter) is threaded (refer to MS33514 [0.5625-18-UNJF-314]).
3. The assembly is bolted to the ram inlet header with three 0.19 inch (4.83 mm) diameter bolts.
1. Water in the system water collector duct flows into the spray nozzle in a high-pressure flow. The
pintle breaks the water flow into a spray. The spray mixes with ram air at the ram air inlet of the
dual heat exchanger. This spray evaporates and helps to cool the ram air which goes through
the dual heat exchanger.

SUPSDS/SUPSD Supersedes/Superseded - A part, subassembly, assembly, or unit
is superseded when it is not of an alternate or optional nature with
the new one. It is due to a design change and is no longer required
at the specific application. Old item stock may not be used for
replacement. A superseded item is listed in the “Fig & Item” column
as a variant and identified in the “Nomenclature” column as
“(SUPSD BY XX)”. The superseding item is listed in the “Fig & Item”
column as an alpha-variant and identified in the “Nomenclature”
column as “(SUPSDS XX)”.
A. The Introduction, which tells how to use the IPL. It includes the Vendor List. It can also
include a Configuration Change Summary, which shows the sequence and causes for the
changes in the IPL.
B. The Equipment Designator Index (if necessary), which shows all of the electrical
components in the sequence of their reference designators. It identifies each reference
designator with a figure and item location.
C. The Numerical Index, which shows all of the parts in the sequence of their part numbers. It
identifies each use of a part number with a figure and item location.
D. The Detailed Parts List, which shows all of the parts in their approximate disassembly
sequence with illustrations. It also gives other information related to the use of each part.
(1) The “Fig & Item” (Figure and Item Number) columns give the item number for each part
shown on the illustration. The item number can have a hyphen in front of it (-10), can be
followed by a letter (10A), or can be shown with both (-10B). An item number with a
hyphen in front of it is not shown on the illustration. An item number followed by a letter
(10A) shows that the part on the illustration is equivalent to all parts that include the
same item number (-10, -10B, or 10C).
(2) The “Part Number” column gives the Hamilton Sundstrand, vendor, or government
standard part numbers for each part shown on the illustration.
(a) Part Numbers - The types of numbers used in the “Part Number” column are:
4) RFN Numbers - “RFN” is used to divide the detail parts into smaller groups. Each
RFN number refers to group of parts which is shown in detail on a different figure.
This is done to make the parts list easier to use. You cannot procure parts by
their “RFN” numbers.
6) When a series of letters is given in the “Part Number” column, the assembled
parts shown on the illustration are not procurable as a subassembly. The part
number shown last in a series of equivalent parts is the most recent part.
(4) The “Nomenclature” column has a number of different types of information. It must have
the part name and the indention level must be shown by dots “..” to the left of the name.
The “Nomenclature” column can also include the following types of information.
(a) Assembly Sequence Indentation - The names of the parts in the “Nomenclature”
column of the IPL are indented to show which parts are installed in other parts. The
level of indentation is shown by the number of dots at the left edge of the
“Nomenclature” column. For example, the top assembly for a parts list figure is at
the left margin. The names of its parts and subassemblies are indented by one dot.
Subsequent subassemblies and parts are indented with more dots.

(d) A vendor code (a capital letter V followed by five numbers or a mixture of five
numbers and letters).
(e) A service bulletin number (with the capital letters SB in front of the number).
(f) A note that has additional information about the use of a part.
(h) “ATTACHING PARTS” - These words, in the “Nomenclature” column, tell that the
items that follow are used to attach the item. The end of the “ATTACHING PARTS”
are identified with the characters “-------*-------” in the “Nomenclature” column. If
there are the words “ATTACHING PARTS”, the “ATTACHING PARTS” for the item
are shown first and the detailed breakdown of the item are shown after the end of
“ATTACHING PARTS” characters “-------*-------”.
(j) “SERVICE USE” - These words, in the “Nomenclature” column, tell that the part was
not used in the original equipment but can be used for in-service units.
(k) “SERVICE EVALUATION PART” - These words, in the “Nomenclature” column, tell
that the part is being used on a limited population of units and is not being supplied
for the general population of units.
(l) A “CHANGE CODE” number that is the same as the number shown in a
Configuration Change Summary Table.
1) If the “CHANGE CODE” number has an asterisk (*) after it, then all of the items
that have the same change code must be changed at the same time.
2) The Configuration Change Summary Table will give this information about each
change:
(5) The “Eff Code” column shows the differences between two or more configurations of an
end item. When different parts are used, they are given the same code letter as the end
item configuration. When no code letter is shown in the “Eff Code” column, the part can
be used in all end item configurations.
(a) The “Eff Code” column uses a single letter to identify each configuration. The letters
are capital A thru Z, but not I or O.
(b) The codes in the “Eff Code” column are unique to the IPL Figure in which they are
shown. For example, an “A” used in Figure 1 may be applicable to PN XXXXXX-1 in
Figure 1. In the same example, if an “A” is used in Figure 2, it may be applicable to
PN XXXXX-2 in Figure 2.
(6) The “UPA” (Units per Assembly) column shows the quantity of each part and
subassembly shown in the IPL illustration.
(a) If there is a number shown in the “UPA” column, that quantity of the item is used in
the location shown.
(c) If there is an “AR” in the “UPA” column, then the actual quantity of the item can vary.
An example of when this would be used is for a shim that is selected during
assembly.
(1) Each part has an item number in the “Fig & Item” column. Item numbers are in the
approximate sequence of disassembly.
(2) A variant letter is a letter after the item number for a part number. Letters A through Z,
but not I and O, are used. Variant letters are used for:
C. Change Codes
(1) The words “Change Code” followed by a number, show the sequence in which changes
were made. The Configuration Change Summary (if supplied), in this IPL Introduction,
tells about each change code number used.
(2) If an asterisk follows a change code number, all of the parts that have that change code
must be replaced at the same time.
(3) The Configuration Change Summary tells about the change codes. It identifies each
change by its change code number, and tells you:
(c) Which engineering change (EC) caused the change, and which Service Bulletin has
the change procedures.
Table 10003
Configuration Change Summary
E. Units per Assembly - The UPA column tells you the total number of each part that is installed
in the next higher assembly.
F. All solid shim thicknesses are given in inches. An example is (0.010 THK) which represents
a 0.010 inch thick solid shim. Metric equivalents are also given in millimeters (mm). Metric
equivalents are given in [ ] throughout the IPL.
