Root Position 3-Note Chords

(for 5-string Bass)
The following three-note chords sound ideal when played in the upper register
of the bass beyond the 8th fret. Avoid playing them in the lower register as they sound
muddy and unclear. Each chord contains a root (indicated by an open circle), a third,
and a seventh. They are moveable and can be played on any string group. These
chords are relatively easy to play and offer bassists two shapes for each of the most
common chord types.
