CHAPTER I: SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

Philippine School of Business Administration, Inc. - Q.C

Name of the firm

The term “HALINA” is a tagalog word meaning “to go” or “let’s go” which represents the

business’ enthusiasm and encourages the customers to travel and go. Hence the name of

the firm – HALINA Travel and Tours.

Head Office and Factory

“HALINA Travel and Tours” is located at 26 Anonas Street, Project 2 Quezon City. The group

has chosen this location because even though the business operates mainly online, we

considered the accessibility of the office to walk-in customers as well as the employees of

the firm. Since the location is along one of the main roads in Quezon City, public utility

vehicles to and from Quezon City passes by right in front of the office.

History of the business

People are claiming that this is the golden era for Philippine Tourism. This became possible

because of the extensive road projects by the government in different provinces in the

country that makes them more accessible to tourists who prefer to travel by land. Also, with

social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter being a part of almost

every Filipino, young or old, it makes it easier to see and read about other people’s travel

adventure and share your own as well. One who sees another person’s post on social media

encourages him/her to travel also and enjoy the experience first-hand, then he/she will also

post about her own experiences and the cycle of encouragement to travel will go on and on.

Philippine School of Business Administration, Inc. - Q.C
1029 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City

That is the power of social media and that is what we want to take advantage of as

businessmen. This survey from Philippine Statistics Authority only proves that Domestic

Tourism is the new thing especially in the working population of the Philippines.

WORK SCHEDULE

CHAPTER II: ECONOMIC ASPECTS

Market Description

The geographic target market of Halina Travel and Tours are the 17 cities in the National
Capital Region (NCR) such as Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila,
Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay City, Pasig, Pateros, Quezon City, San
Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela. According to the 2015 Census, National Capital Region has
total population of 12,877,253 which is composed of 68.89% of the economically active
population and actual or potential members of the work force. This gives us a rough figure
of our main and specific target market of 8,871,449 active/working population.

Means of Transportation and Existing Rates

Halina Travel and Tour’s main office is strategically located near business
establishments, colleges, hospital and church. This makes it perfect for the walk-in
customers to reach and locate the office easily since it is situated near Anonas LRT
Stations and along the main road where Public Utility Vehicles to and from Quezon

Philippine School of Business Administration, Inc. - Q.C
1029 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City

City passes thru. PUVs’ current existing fares are: Jeepney P9.00 minimum, LRT
P15.00 minimum, Tricycles P9.00 minimum.

Channel of Distribution and General Trade Practice

The target market of Halina Travel and Tour is mainly the working and active
population of National Capital Region who travel in Luzon at least once a year via
land. This is to be achieved by online transactions through social media platforms
and also personal transactions done in the office.

Since it’s not possible for the proponents to study the whole 8,871,449 working

population of the NCR, we resorted to gather a specific sample using the “Slovin’s

Formula” which allows computation of population with desired degree of accuracy.

We use 10% margin of error that indicates the probability of applying an error in

selecting a small representative of the population.

Computation for respondents using Slovin’s Formula

n = N / (1 + Ne²)

Where:

n = Sample Size

N = Population Size

e = Error tolerance

Solution:

Philippine School of Business Administration, Inc. - Q.C
1029 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City

n = 8,871,449 / [1 + (8,871,449 x .10²)]

n = 99.99

Thus, the sample size is 99.99 or approximately 100 respondents.

Survey Questionnaires

It is important for the proponents to know if the business is feasible to its chosen target

market. Additionally, it is important to gather data and information to prove that it is,

indeed, feasible. To obtain these data, a tool that will help answer questions vital to the

business is needed. The survey questionnaire will be considered as the basis of the target

market’s preference and limitations. It consists of straight and related questions that are

expected to be answered by the respondents.

The respondents are from the different cities of National Capital Region (NCR) that is

included in the age group of a working population with a sample size of one hundred (100).

The number of the respondents is based on the formulated data by means of application of

the Slovin’s formula in the vicinity.

The random respondents will be used as a representation of the total target market of

working population from NCR.

The following data and interpretations are the result of survey conducted by the

researchers:

1029 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City

There are a lot of travel agencies that has been established in every corner of Metro Manila.

But since the travel industry is expected to grow and grow for the next few years, the

demand to accommodate every tourist grows with it. This is what we want to take

advantage of as businessmen, to create the supply to meet the overflowing demand of the

industry.

Marketing Program

Travel Agencies thrive mostly thru extensive marketing programs to reach existing and

potential customers more often. The firm will definitely join the trend of these extensive

marketing programs by allotting Php 15,000/month budget for the said programs. This

programs includes leaflets, stickers, sponsored post, tarpaulins, etc.

Promotions and advertising plans

HALINA Travel and Tours aim to reach as many customers as possible on Facebook,

Instagram, and other different ways. To be able to achieve this, these are the practices that

HALINA Travel and Tours will take for the Marketing Program:

A.) BIG TARPAULIN

A big tarpaulin will be put up to mark the location of the office. This contain the

name of the firm, accreditation seals, and contact number. This tarpaulin will be

facing the main road so when it became traffic, it can easily catch the attention of

anyone passing by and will retain the name to their minds.

Philippine School of Business Administration, Inc. - Q.C
1029 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City

B.) SPEAKERS, SMALL TARPAULINS (Opening)

We plan on inviting not only our close family and friends on the grand opening

day and office blessing, but also everyone who wants to join the ceremony.

Speakers and tarpaulins will be placed beside the main road to create impact to

those passing by.

C.) STICKERS

We will print stickers with the text “BARYA LANG PO SA UMAGA” and the name

of the firm and give it to different TODAs in different barangays. In that way, we

can maximize the exposure of the business.

D.) FLYERS AND LEAFLETS

Philippine School of Business Administration, Inc. - Q.C
1029 Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City

As a way of maximizing the reach to potential clients, two hired outsourced

personnel will be handing out flyers to busy streets and places where people

usually wait for PUVs such as LRT Stations and the like.

E.) FACEBOOK POST AND INSTAGRAM-SPONSORED POST

This will be the most extensive program among others because social media has

become a huge part of every Filipino nowadays, we will take advantage of that

fact to reach more potential clients in different areas. Social Media Applications

are considered the best advertisement platform because it allows companies to

reach a wide range of clients with minimum efforts, we only need catchy

captions and encouraging photos to maximize the use of the tool. These are

sample promotional photos that will be posted and boosted in Facebook and

Instagram:

The proponents realize limitations of the whole analysis, largely in the economic aspect.

Some are partly named:

 Changes in the profit (gross and net) in result of affecting elements.

 Stability and precision of the margin of Return on Investments (ROI).
 Accuracy of the Salaries expense and Operating expenses thereto in result of the “no
work no pay” policy.
 Changes in the government’s policies regarding the taxes and licenses and their
corresponding fees.
 Related charges on unusual repairs and maintenance.
 Reliability of the Break-even usage Analysis (in units and in Peso) in result of
affecting elements.
