a. Install the EGR valve bracket with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

2. INSTALL NO. 3 EGR PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Install a new gasket and the No. 3 EGR pipe with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

a. Start the engine and warm it up.
b. Turn the engine switch off.

c. Connect the 400 A probe of an ammeter to the positive (+) wire of the air pump.
d. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
e. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
f. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Air Injection Check / Manual
Mode / AIR PUMP: ON, ASV1: OPEN, ASV2: OPEN.

HINT:

When Manual Mode is selected, Techstream initialization (atmospheric pressure measurement) is

performed automatically. Initialization takes 10 seconds. After initialization, AIR PUMP and ASV
operation can be selected.

g. Measure the current while the air pump is operating.

h. Turn the engine switch off.

NOTE: z Air Injection Check only allows technicians to operate the AIR
system for a maximum of 5 seconds.

Furthermore, the check can only be performed up to 4 times per

trip. If the test is repeated, intervals of at least 30 seconds are
required between checks.

While AIR system operation using the Techstream is prohibited,

the Techstream display indicates the prohibition (WAIT or
ERROR).

If ERROR is displayed on the Techstream during the test, stop

the engine for 10 minutes, and then try again.

z Performing Air Injection Check repeatedly may cause damage to
the AIR system. If necessary, leave an interval of several
minutes between Air Injection Check operations to prevent the
system from overheating.
z When performing the Air Injection Check operation after the
battery cable has been reconnected, wait for 7 minutes with the
engine switch on (IG) or the engine running.
z Turn the engine switch off when the Air Injection Check
operation finishes.

5. REMOVE PCV VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Using a 22 mm ball joint lock nut wrench, remove the PCV valve sub-assembly.

1. INSPECT PCV VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Install a clean hose to the PCV valve.
b. Check the PCV valve operation.
1. Blow air into the cylinder head side and check that air passes through easily.

a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring.

HINT:

zWhen reusing the PCV valve, inspect the O-ring.

z If the O-ring has scratches or cuts, replace the PCV valve.

b. Using a 22 mm ball joint lock nut wrench, install the PCV valve sub-assembly.

Torque: 3.5 N*m (36 kgf*cm, 31 in.*lbf)

NOTE: Use the formula to calculate special torque values for situations
where ball joint lock nut wrench is combined with a torque wrench.
Refer to PRECAUTION .

2. CONNECT PCV VALVE HOSE

a. Connect the PCV valve hose to the valve.

b. Secure the hose with the clamp.
