HAITI
In April, we took a team to The Republic of Haiti for 12 days. Our time of
ministering was very fruitful and amazing. Haiti has always been the poorest country in
the Western Hemisphere, but now it has been rocked with a devastating
earthquake. The destruction of the earthquake is still very prevalent 15 months later,
and although aid and assistance has poured in from around the world, progress is slow.

One of our team members, Josiah, age 15, was traveling on his first mission trip. He
has a heritage of ministry in that his grandfather, father and mother all worked with
Pastor Lamartine and Patricia when they took their first mission trip, also to Haiti.
Josiah was a hard working servant, did great in the VBS skits, prayed for others, spoke
in the churches and was very comfortable one on one with Haitians that could speak
Josiah English.

Destinee, Josiah’s cousin, age 13, whose parents are pastors at Epic Life Church in
MANTLE MINISTRIES Oakland County, feels a call to missions. It was also her first mission trip and was great
in ministry with a smile always on her face. She brought her passion and love for the

PASTOR TERRY AND PAT CARLSON people and God into everything we did. Crowds of kids would surround her at every
site we visited.
“… thou shall go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shall speak” Jer. 1:7 Kathi was returning for her third trip and found that a church and 60 houses had been
build on the land her team had evangelized around 10 years ago. Kathi, having such a
servant’s heart, was a blessing to both the team and the Haitians. Her love for the
Haitians was evident in her passion to minister and pray. She also added such humor
and fun to the VBS. Her experience proved quite valuable to this year’s team.

Kathi The teen-age members of our team experienced many “firsts” on this trip. They were a

St. Clair Shores, MI 48082-2411 the dessert, and Fonds Dieu, a small church by the lake. Other experiences included
hundreds of children answering the salvation and baptism of Holy Spirit altar calls,
.............. praying over the sick both adults and children, speaking in three churches, giving their
testimony to hundreds, and who could forget eating beans, rice, plantains and riding in

The Vacation Bible School is always a highlight of our trip. The children walk for
E-MAIL: pastorterrycarlson@gmail.com miles to attend and are so excited to learn. Hearing them recite verses they had learned
from the daily lessons was so rewarding. With about 250-300 children attending daily,
BLOG: www.mantleministries.blogspot.com almost 200 answered the call of Salvation in each of the three churches. A particular
highlight is the experience of those same children answering the call for the Baptism of
Destinee the Holy Spirit. Such a joy to be around children receiving their prayer language.
VOODOO IN HAITI IRELAND
In contrast to all that God was doing, we were in Haiti during the Rah Rah Season, which corresponds to Christian Lenten season. We have been asked to minister a marriage and parenting conference

Our team was serving Pastor Lamartine, who felt it was a very successful and fruitful trip. The ministry took place in three of his
his five churches. Members of the team felt that they had grown in so many ways and had experienced so many things.
We are now in the process of developing a team for 2012.

CFL KIDS’ CAMP
July brings us to our annual two weeks of camp for our foster children. The preparations for Champions
HAITI PICTURES for Life Kids’ Camp continue all year long, but the spring season is the “crunch” time for many
things. In preparation for this years’ camp, the directors have centered in on the truth of Zechariah 4:6
which says, “not by might, nor by power but by My spirit says the Lord of Hosts.” Please keep us in
prayer as we return from Ireland only weeks before camp. We are excited to see the camper
applications pour in and they are currently being processed.

ROMANIA
August will once again bring us to the country of
Romania. We are currently in contact with the
pastor and setting up the schedule of events for this
Salvation altar call Baptism of the Holy Spirit Josiah with some of the children trip. We received an exciting testimony from a
friend and church member in Romania that has been
trying to get pregnant to no avail. Her doctors did
not seem hopeful. Ramona, pictured left, had
exhausted herself and her options and asked for
prayer from last year’s team. This young lady stole
our hearts years ago when she shared her testimony

message stating she is pregnant. Praise God! Actually, for a couple of years in a row,
our team prayed over women having difficulty getting pregnant and on our return trip, we were introduced to their infants.
God is so faithful! Facebook has allowed us to keep in contact with our friends in eastern Europe and we can’t wait to return.
