WHAT’S NEW ON IBER INTRODUCTION

Iber is a two-dimensional software Iber is being enhanced day by day with the introduction of new
for the simulation of free surface calculation parameters and friendlier interfaces, in order to offer a
flow, morphodynamics, transport mayor of possibilities in the field of numerical modelling in hydraulics,
processes (water quality) and habitat hydrology and eco-hydraulics
in rivers and estuaries.
The interest of the Team Iber to improve and introduce new
calculation modules and tools, as well as the feedback with the users
of the software through the website www.iberaula.com and
www.ibercursos.com, has allowed to develop the new versions of Iber.

This document shows the last changes of the latest versions of Iber,
and also a record of the changes done in older versions.

IBER 3.1 (03/12/2021)
What’s new from v2.6 to v3.1:

 Restructuration of the main interface. Current version shows,

by default, only the hydraulic module. Additional calculation
modules and other capabilities, such us parallelization (GPU),
has to be activated in Plug-ins. Users are allowed to activate
only compatible modules and additional capabilities.
 New GPU parallelization of the code based on Fortran-CUDA
entitled ‘R-Iber’. This version is compatible with the Sediment
Transport and Habitat modules.
 Hydrological processes module has been restructured and
improved with new capabilities. Now, hyetographs can be
implemented isolated, as Thyessen polygon and over specific
surfaces. Losses can be implemented manually, automatically
through raster map or by zones and, additionally, the main
parameters of each losses formula can be multiplied by a
factor. Two new submodules for groundwater flow and soil
water stress simulations.
 Sediment transport module has been restructured and
improved by incorporating a new submodule for bedload
which is able to simulate non-uniform granulometries. Rock
position can be assigned manually or by a raster.
Ashida&Muchiue bedload transport formula added.
Possibility of considerer or not the Einstein partition when
solving the bedload transport equations.
 New module for simulating Soil Erosion processes has been
included into Iber package. This module is able to assess the
soil production and transportation in catchments.
 New module for simulating Urban Drainage processes has
been included into Iber package. This module is able to assess
the dual urban drainage, integrating hydrological and
hydraulic processes in urban areas.

Bugs report and improvements:

 Results tab has been re-organized grouping results by topic.

Flood hazard according to RD 9/2008 and ACA 2003 have
been split, and custom hazard has been included herein. New
possibility of write plain results on specific location (‘Gauges’).
 New method to simulate pressure flow named ‘TPA’ (Two-
Component Pressure Approach). Now, lids are assigned as a
surface condition and the must be activate is Problem Data.
 Culverts and Breaches can be now considered or not for
calculation. Breach and encroachment options are grouped
and organized in a unique menu (Iber Tools).
 Some bugs fixed for LAStoDTM add-on.
