Files
Several Cat Global Paving models use Cat WebGPI 4.0.0 for Test & Adjustment of, Calibration of
and / or system monitoring of:
• Soil Compactors equipped with a Variable Frequency Vibratory attachment
• Asphalt Paver Screeds equipped with Electric Screed Heat Control
• RM 300 / RM500 Reclaimer Machine Controllers
Note: These controllers are not interchangeable between machine models. Do not use controllers
from other model machines for operating or troubleshooting purposes, they will not work properly.
Additional machine specific Application Files are required for the Comm Software to connect to the
ECM. Be sure to download and install any additional App Files needed before servicing the
machine.
For Application File descriptions please refer to the Paving Products section of SISWEB
Downloads.
These instructions are intended for persons with a moderate experience level in working with PCs,
ECMs, and applications. If you are not familiar with terminology, installing, removing, renaming,
and moving files, folders, and / or applications please seek additional help from your Information
Technology department.
Be aware that administrative privileges for the PC might be required prior to downloading and
installing Cat WebGPI 4.0.0 Comm Software and the App Files from SISWEB. Some operating
systems may require “power user” authorization.
1. Uninstall any previous versions of WebGPI or Cat WebGPI before installing the latest
version. Use the “Add or Remove Programs” application in your Windows Operating
System.
2. To install Cat WebGPI 4.0.0 to your laptop, select “Cat WebGPI 4.zip” file from the
Downloads page of SISWEB. When the download window opens, choose “Save” and save
the file to the PC’s Desktop. It may take several minutes for the file to download.
3. After downloading is complete, there should be a Cat WebGPI 4.zip file on the Desktop.
Open the file and extract or decompress it. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! THE COMM
SOFTWARE IS INSTALLED BY AN EXECUTABLE FILE, AND EXECUTABLE
FILES WILL NOT CORRECTLY EXECUTE IN A COMPRESSED FORMAT!
Note: Computers may have different options for extracting a .zip file. A few of those options
are, “Open”, “Decompress”, “Unpackage”, “Unzip”, “Extract All”.
4. After the zip file has been unzipped, there should be a folder titled Cat WebGPI 4 on the
Desktop. Open it and click on the CatGPI_Setup_v.4.0.0.exe file. The Comm Software will
install.
5. After installation is complete, the Cat WebGPI 4.zip file and the Cat WebGPI 4 folder can
both be deleted from the Desktop.
6. Two CAT icons should now be displayed on your desktop, “Cat WebGPI 4.0.0” and “Cat
WebGPI-Log 4.0.0”.
7. Double click on the Cat WebGPI 4.0.0 icon on your desktop. The Comm Software should
open. Verify that it does, and close it.
Note: There are three Application zip files posted, one for Reclaimers, one for Screed Heat, and
one for Soil Compactors with Variable Frequency attachment. Each zip file contains several the
Application Files. The needed Application File varies, based on Model No. and Date of
Manufacture of the machine. If it isn’t known with certainty what App File is needed, download
and install all of them.
2. When the download window opens, choose “Save” and save the file to the PC’s Desktop.
This may take several minutes while the file downloads.
3. After downloading is complete, there should be RM300 & RM500 App Files.zip, SCOM
Variable Freq App Files.zip, and / or Screed Application Files.zip files on the Desktop.
4. Open the zip files and extract or decompress them. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! THE
APPLICATION FILES ARE INSTALLED BY EXECUTABLE FILES, AND
EXECUTABLE FILES WILL NOT CORRECTLY EXECUTE IN A COMPRESSED
FORMAT!
Note: Computers may have different options for extracting a .zip file. A few of those options
are, “Open”, “Decompress”, “Unpackage”, “Unzip”, “Extract All”.
5. After the zip file has been unzipped, there should be folders titled Cat RM300 & RM500 App
Files, SCOM Variable Freq App Files, and / or Screed Application Files folders on the
Desktop. Open them, and, one by one, click on the executable files within. The App Files
will install.
6. After installation is complete, the RM300 & RM500 App Files.zip, SCOM Variable Freq
App Files.zip, and / or Screed Application Files.zip zip files and the Cat RM300 & RM500
App Files, SCOM Variable Freq App Files, and / or Screed Application Files folders can all
be deleted from the Desktop.
The address must be exactly as typed and spaced above. Ensure that the Installation Path is
correct when the files are installed. If it isn’t, select “Browse” and select the correct
Installation Path so that the App Files install in the correct Destination Folder.
9. Verify the machine software has been installed. Open Cat WebGPI 4.0.0 and click the
‘Offline Mode’ icon on the top toolbar. Click on the arrow in the “Offline Mode” “Available
Applications” pop-up window. All Application Files that were installed should be seen in this
dropdown list.
10. If the App File is not listed, repeat the installation process, ensuring that the files are installed
to the correct folder:
11. Connect 245-4121 Comm Cable to the machine’s 3 pin Deutsch connector for the CAN
circuit, typically located in a control console. Connect the other end of the 245-4121 Comm
Cable to the serial port on the computer.
Note: New laptops may require a Serial to USB adaptor cable part number 370-8059. This cable
adapts the 245-4121 Cable from a serial connector to a USB connector.
12. Turn the machine’s ignition switch and component switches on for the applicable system you
are working with, for example, vibratory system, screed heat, etc. Starting the engine is not
necessary unless system voltage is low.
13. Open Cat WebGPI 4.0.0 and click the ‘Application’ icon on the top toolbar. The Comm
Software should automatically communicate with the ECM. If you experience problems with
WebGPI 4.0.0 and the machine software, contact the Technical Communicator at your local
Caterpillar dealership.
