TASK 1

A. OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES AND ITS FULFILLMENT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.

1.

“I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of
the earth shall be blessed.”
-Genesis 12:3

“You are sons of the prophets, and the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to
Abraham,’And in your seed all the families of the eart shall be blessed,’ To you first, God, hving raised
up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your inquities.”
-Acts 3:25-26

All People will be blessed through Abraham’s descendants

“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who
will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I
will establish the throne of his kingdom forever
-2 Samuel 7:12-13

“The book of genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.
-Matthew 1:1

The kingdom of David will last forever

“Therefpre the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and
shall call His name Immanuel.”
-Isiah 7:14

Then the angel said to her,”Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold,
you will conceive in your womb and bring fourth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be
great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord will give Him the throne of His father
David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

Then Mary said to the angel,”How can this be, since I do not know a man?”

And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the
Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is born will be called the Son of
God.”
-Luke 1:30-35

A virgin will give birth.

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whoe goings gorth are from of old,
From everlasting.”
-Micah 5:2

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men
from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we
have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had
gathered all the chief priest and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ
was to be born.

So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:

‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,

Are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler
Who will shepherd My people Israel.”
-Matthew 2:1-6

The Christ child will be born in Bethlehem.

“When Israel was a child, I lovedHim,

And out of Egytpt I called My son.”

-Hosea 11:1

When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was
there until the death of Herod, that mighht be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the
prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
-Matthew2:14-15

The Messiah will dwel in Egypt.

B. THE OLD AND THE NEW IN YOURSELF/IN YOUR LIFE.

AS I AM SHIFTING I BEGIN TO REALIZE THAT I AM NOT THE SAME PERSON I USED TO BE. THE THINGS
I USED TO TOLERATE HAVE NOW BECOME INTOLERABLE. FROM ALL THE THINGS I EXPERIENCED IN
THE OLD ME I AM MORE BECOMING WISE AND CHOOSE WHAT’S BEST FOR MYSELF AND FOR THE
PEOPLE WHO CARED FOR ME. I AM SCARED BEFORE FOR MY TOMORROWS, MY COURAGE IN LIFE
AND FAITH IN GOD BECAME HUGE AS I APPRECIATE LIFE EVERYDAY AND LEARN TO HANDLE
EVERYTHING BEING DEPENDENT ON MYSELF.

A JOYFUL SUNDAY

JOHN 19:38-42, 20:1-10

1. How the Gospels similar with each other?

The Gospel is similar with each other is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

2. How are they different?

They are different from the way they took Jesus to His tomb. On the Gospel of Matthew 28:8
and Luke 24:9 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary told the disciples of Jesus that He is risen from
the dead but on Mark 16:8 they trembled and amazed and they said nothing to anyone, for they
were afraid. On John 19:38-42, 20:1-10 has a different set up of a story there no earthquake that
was said to the Gospel of Mark, Mary Magdalene is the only person who saw the stones that was
taken away from the tomb and she ran to Simon and Peter and tell what she saw.

How about you? What’s in your name? What does it mean? How have you regarded your name and
your identity? How important is your name to you? Rediscover what is in your name, your identity
and mission. Share your insights and reflections in one to two paragraphs.

Eunice Gay Valencia Granada. Its is the name given to me by my parents. The first letter of my first
name was passed from my parents and siblings that starts with “E” also. I am the youngest of 6, the
“Eu” was from my brother’s first name that starts with “Eu” and my mother put “NICE” after it that
means good. The “GAY” means happy. So the meaning of my name is Good and Happy.

My middle name was from my mother’s side native from Tuyom, Cauayan Negros Occidental, a clan
of farmers and fishermans. My Last from from my fathers as far as I knew was down from ancestors
here in Sipalay a clan of farmers and miners. I was preveledge for my name since I am very proud of
where it came from. Their beliefs and the pride of our clan is very respectable in terms of dealing
with neighbors and how they raised their lives to which where I am now.

As I am growing I learn to live my life according to m name. Being good and nice, polite and kind not
just for myself but for others, to those i love. I am gay. Being positive in all happenings in my life,
seeing good things despite of everything. I am proud of my name and I am living with dignity and
courage to tell where it came from and what my name will become in the future.
