d. Vigilant role of independent media is a watchdog to the policies of
governments.
e. Increasing involvement of masses, especially youth, in political system
confirms that roots of democracy are getting deep in the soil of this country.
IV. Hurdles of Democracy in Pakistan
a. Transgression of State institutions into each other�s roles put the whole
democratic system in jeopardy.
b. Bad governance, nepotism, alleged corruption and perception of corruption of
political governments diminish the trust of masses.
c. Complaints of rigging and often compromised role of ECP make whole political
process doubtful.
d. Dual standards of and undemocratic norms within political parties hinder
democracy from flourishing at gross root level.
e. Illiteracy and political unawareness misguide masses in selecting their
political leaders.
