Job Analysis

Job Analysis is a process to identi fy and determine in detail the parti cular job
duti es and requirements and the relati ve importance of these duti es for given job.
Job Analysis is a process where judgments are made about data collected on a job.

The Job; not the person is an important concept of Job Analysis is that the analysis
is conducted of the Job, not the person. While Job Analysis data may be collected
from incumbents through interviews or questi onnaires, the product of the analysis
is a descripti on or specifi cati ons of the job, not a descripti on of the person. The
purpose of Job Analysis is to establish and document the 'job relatedness' of
employment procedures such as training, selecti on, compensati on, and
performance appraisal.

Job Analysis Methods:

There are many diff erent methods for job analysis but the three most important
are

 The positi on analysis questi onnaire

 The task analysis inventory

 Job analysis system

Here we are using the “Task Analysis Inventory”. It deals with the process of
identi fying the tasks, knowledge, skills and behaviors that need to be emphasized
in selecti on exam plans and performance appraisals or training plans.
Job analysis basically is comprised of two main parts, the job descripti on and job
specifi cati on. Job descripti on gives with the task, duti es and responsibiliti es where
as job specifi cati on explains the knowledge, abiliti es, skills etc.
